Currently digging away towards another 100 against a university side (Don't think they count in the stats these days).

Got me thinking, I wonder how far off he is from the rare feat of 100 centuries in FC cricket. Turns out he's on 76, and IIRC, signed a 3 year deal at Essex when he retired from test cricket.

Would be a remarkable achievement, particularly in the current climate of less longer-format cricket, if he could move himself into the holy grail alongside Ramprakash and Hick

That would be without the List A and T20 100 though wouldn't it?

The proper 100 100s is in FC but why not, could be motivation to play on. The alternative being up to one's knees in sheep s**t.

I was sure that when Gooch made it, he spoke of List A 100's being included. Could be wrong, long time ago now.

Love the Chef, but sadly I can't see him doing it, purely down to the scarcity of proper cricket these days (also not helped that he'll be playing most of his cricket during the spring and autumn).
