Aguero is great to watch, but Shearer's spell at Blackburn still shades Aguero at City.
If I take my sky blue specs off, I have to admit Shearer's record is better. Aguero and Henry are probably the closest two behind him in goals per games.

We can all wax lyrical about players like Aguero, and especially Henry for some of their skill, but Shearer's job was to score goals, however ugly. In that regard, he's yet to be matched.
Obviously Sunderland fans won't be his biggest admirers, but generally speaking he was fairly inoffensive as a personality (he could put it about in the pitch though) - which would have made him popular even abroad. I think he would have scored at any of the elite European clubs too. That said, you never know how being away from home affects your performance (stop muttering about Gabby Logan )

Barca these days don't seem to go for a Shearer type striker, but I could see him playing at Bayern (but Bayern wouldn't pay such a fee).
I could see Chelsea fancying an aggressive forward.

It's all pipe dreaming of course, but he was never going to be a 'beautiful' striker on the way that Henry, or at a push Aguero are. He was more of a bully like Drogba. We don't see many of those strikers at the moment, but I'm sure they'll make a comeback.

I think that's just because it's very difficult to do. If there were a load of strikers kicking about who could score with left and right foot, inside the box and outside the box, class in the air, could hold it up, play on the shoulder (which Shearer could at Blackburn), and score 25+ goals a season, then I'm sure nearly all the top sides would adjust their tactics accordingly and slot them straight in the team.

In fact a centre forward like that will be effective in practically any system anyway - though you might be right to point to Barca as an example of a side that might not want him due to the way they use Messi.

Cavani and Falcao (pre injury) seem about the right level to me. World class goal scorers and very good footballers with the world class around game. So around £50m.

....to name but three, and that's only the Prem, so doesn't include such as Zlatan and others abroad.

Shearer was "away from home" (at Southampton) from the age of 15. Possibly explains the development of his "inoffensive personality". I don't think he would have found being abroad a real problem.
