Alan Brazil talksport

100 years ago they were telling that to women who wanted to be Doctors

Any non physical pursuit or job…should be the same pay.
Although to be fair female porn stars are paid much more than their male counterparts.
Is this fair….the rule of supply and demand and the income each sex brings in….says yes the perceived inequality is fair.

However regards physical sports there are huge difference between men and women.
Don’t think it’s just about strength and muscle mass, some of it is the anatomy and bone structure.

For example I play table tennis at a good level….the average women has the same strength as a 14 to 15 year old boy.
However in my sport there’s plenty of 10 years boys who hit the ball much harder than 90% of high level women players.
Suspect it relates to levers and weight transference to generate power and the natural female anatomy holds them back.

Also to be fair you can never judge historical ethics based on the fashion/ ethics of today. It was a different time.
What is considered normal now might be considered hideous and backwards in 100 years time, so should we all hang our heads in shame?

There's some wild takes on this thread mind, going back to one person's opinion, which in the context of their discussion wasn't that controversial.
Aye, it's mad how it went from that, to some of you lot posting things like' I like that presenter cos she is a nice bit of skirt' etc.

Amazing!

They are a bit mate as all she would like to do is play for SAFC one day and finds women footballers really inspiring.

It’s just faux masculinity by blokes who are probably lacking a bit testosterone though
I tell you what I find really strange on these threads. People who love safc. Will take an interest in everything safc, the academy teams,u-19's,u-21's etc. Then when it comes to the women. Nope,no interest. Ignore it( even though it's still safc). It's mental. Almost makes you think they are just a bit....,ah,I'll leave it there.

the goalies are all crap

I always think the quality of the goalkeeping lags behind the quality of the rest of the players. I'm not so sure it's height, although it would obviously would help if they were 6 foot plus.

It looks to me like a lack of agility more than anything else. Loads of times I've seen goals go in that the keeper really should be getting to, height accounted for, a step to the side and spring, but the keepers are caught flat footed. Maybe there's some biological difference that impacts agility, don't know.

Either way, I don't think Brazil is saying anything outrageous when he says that 'it's not that important to Man United fans in the grand scheme of things'. He could point to attendances and so on to back up what he's saying.

38% increase in attendances last year. Fastest growing sport in the world... fact.
Can't disagree with that and yeah they have increased. Be interesting to see if the levels are maintained when the ticket prices inevitably increase and more players look to go full time.

Regardless of what Brazil said if they are talking about this mission 21 why did she start talking about the women’s team? Almost if it’s scripted for clicks.

Mission 21 is about Man Utd winning their 21st premier league title. Which they are currently miles away from

So, you’re advocating I tell my daughter that the dream she would like to follow is a second-rate one?
Basically.
She is fully aware the women’s game is way behind with regards finance and crowds presently, by the way.

Careful, @AmblerThorn will be along to call you a woman hating, racist, reform voting bigot in a minute for simply stating you have no interest in it, despite the fact you mean no harm to it at all, nor would you have any opposition for it flourishing in the public eye and would be happy for those partaking.
To be fair, on reflection, I misrepresented you before or didn't quite reply to what you'd actually meant

How? You and ducktales were liking each other's posts, so I take it you were in agreement on the fundamentals of this thread.
I haven't 'liked' the original post, only referenced it for the context of the actual conversation which took place.
Loads are now piling in claiming misogyny and other stuff, and just being offended on stuff that's literally not been mentioned

No when have I said that? You'd obviously back her in that pursuit and see how far she gets. What's that got to do with the context of the original post?

a woman hating

Some women's sports are better to watch than men's, tennis springs to mind when I used to watch a lot of tennis. Reckon the women's football game has a lot more quality in it than many would suggest and it's got a competitive advantage in that the game is played in a much better spirit.

But, football is an entirely different sport to tennis. There are all of the things that go on around football that make it such a compelling sport, e.g. tribal fans supporting their town/city/area as much as the football club. It's been like this for more than a century. I can't see that being transferred to the women's game in my lifetime.

Because the post I was replying to was regarding that and you called it “a wild take” when I mentioned it wasn’t too long ago women were told certain careers were a no go for them
