Ahmed Abdullahi

I'm more annoyed at Mayenda replacing Brobbey rather than Diarra. One was holding onto the ball and having (albeit shit) shots. The other was giving the ball away before touching it

Squad being managed for a game next week. You may have heard of it.

RLB isn’t f***ing stupid. He knows how important that match is for his future prospects and general morale. He showed last year that he is quite prepared to soft pedal less important games to manage preparation for more important ones. Think we’ll see a different team next week.

I'm a big fan of RLB. Exactly the type of calmness you want from a manager. He has his way of doing it and he sticks to it. I thought he'd messed up the run in to the play offs last season but he had a plan and his team pulled it off.

He obviously gets to see more of the players than any off us here but he does tend to make his mind up on a player based on their performances in training/attitude. He's definitely not handing players first team opportunities just because they're next in line. Clearly sending a message to Abdullahi at this point. Looked for all the world that he'd be involved yesterday then wasn't even on the bench.

As others have said they lad looks way above U21 standard when he has played at that level but mustn't be ticking the other boxes RLB insists on. I hope the message sinks in because Abdullahi looks like he could develop into a really good striker option.

Admire RLB for setting standards for all players to adhere to but as other have said it might be the reason he never gets to that top level. Sometimes you just have to make allowances for a maverick if they deliver on the pitch. Not saying that's Ahmed but moving forward if you want game changers they sometimes come with flaws.

Regis does have a good reputation for developing young players so hopefully our young players realise this and start to deliver the standards he's set.

There's no way his plan includes a last minute Ballard header in extra time

It's not WWF mate. There's no script.
His plan was stay in the game/tie then use our superior fitness to win the game as the opposition tired. Having conserved our fitness during the run in while nobody else had been able to.
'til the end wasn't just marketing
That was the plan and that's exactly what we did across all three games.

Isidor shouldn't have been on the bench if he isn't fit enough to play 5 mins when we're 0-1 down. I like RLB and defended him throughout the Jan-April run last year but it's just a weird decision. At least Abdullahi would've been an option.
There isn't anything to defend. He made a decision that didn't help us win the game. It was a misjudgment. It happens, I have made them at work, no doubt we all have. I don't think Isidor would have got us anything either so it's a case of forget it and onto next week 👍

Rightly or wrongly, RLB clearly does not rate any of the U21's tbf and they are there just to fill a bench spot. I do find it strange that Harrison Jones was breaking through last year though and is no where near this year.

I remeber years ago, cannot remember who the manager was, Poyet maybe? Left the bench with empty spots instead of putting kids on it and he got loads of shit for it.
O’Neill. The great big f***ing fraud. Didn’t want young players to think that they’d made it. Still infuriates me years later!

It was Martin O'Neill & I thought it was a really shitty thing to do at the time cos he actually came out & said they weren't good enough so was no point in putting them there.
