Good points. Wages are the hidden cost and I'm glad we are not chasing unrealistic signings. Is Xhaka our top earner? 100k a week?At some point people need to realise that the headline transfer fee means pretty much nothing these days. It's all about the wages, and will become even more so with SCR replacing PSR.
I think there's going to be a huge swathe of very good but not quite elite players (like Rashford) with literally nowhere to go because they're on elite wages, which no one else can afford. An optimist might think it'll settle the insane wage inflation down a bit. Personally, I think it'll make things even worse, and will ruin many a good footballer's career from making their "big move" at like 20 and then never kicking a ball again because no one will pay them.
Seems to range between £110l and £130k pwGood points. Wages are the hidden cost and I'm glad we are not chasing unrealistic signings. Is Xhaka our top earner? 100k a week?
Ivan Toney (England World Cup Squad 2026) endorses this messageIf he's not serious he'll piss off to Saudi Arabia and be forgotten about in 3 months.
Heartbeat for me but astronomical wagesJust sayin…. He’s available![]()
Bournemouth 20th place in league one on that videoEver since the derby when I read or here this, the mag version springs to mind and I only saw this recently just to make it even more horrific FFS

He’s only been to 3Lots of clubs seem to want rid of him very quickly.
They both had the option to sign him permanently. Both didn’t want to.He’s only been to 3
Man Utd
Villa
Barcelona
He was wanted by both Villa & Barcelona![]()
He's just played 32 league games as Barcelona walked La Liga, but yeah, chuck in some random players in an attempt to distract from your daft comment.Yeah a spell at Barca where they’d rather pay 70 million for Gordon than sign him. Bet you’re probably one of them who rated bardsley and Watmore
If Barcelona wanted to get 'rid of him very quickly' they probably could have sent him back in January rather than playing him for a significant portion of the season.Lots of clubs seem to want rid of him very quickly.
They flourished after binning off a woeful manager this season. Most of the players who have left Man Utd over recent years have gone on to better things.Probably one of the most talented players in the England squad but someone I’d have no interest in having at Sunderland . He appears moody , arrogant and extremely lazy and would wreck the team spirit we have built under Le Bris and Xhaka .
It’s no surprise that Utd have flourished after he and a few others were shipped out and there appears no sign of them wanting him back .
He already hasStank the place out at United and it seems unless they can get him very cheap ( fee and wages ) he won’t cut it at Barca. When Gordon is seen as a more harmonious prospect it speaks volumes about the player
No doubt à very good player but not at all likeable
Seems to range between £110l and £130k pw
Right now I can’t see us bringing anyone in on more than that because quite frankly he is the reason we have had such a successful season bar none
Wages & his persona.No!
Good player. Needs, it seems, a certain handling. A certain type of management.
I could see him at Spurs, or Everton although could either pay his massive salary and keep their current players happy…
Will probably end up in Italy I suspect. Carrick should take him back to Man United. He is good enough to be playing in that squad.
What has made Xhaka such a success here is is total commitment to the "project" and his desire to see it through. He's no Prima donna who believes the Club and the team should revolve around him. He clearly get a kick out of seeing the young players around him doing really well because of his influence what he is contributing to their development.Xhaka may have been a bit of a one-off, but by gum it's shaped some people's expectations hasn't it...

I would take any big name player who demonstrated that they could work in the team like that
I wouldn’t say he completely stank the place out United he had some very good season 2 or 3 seasons ago he scored 30 goals for whatever reason he lost his way.Stank the place out at United and it seems unless they can get him very cheap ( fee and wages ) he won’t cut it at Barca.
