Johnson should have said NO when he knew she was 15 simple as, he didn’t therefore he is an idiot and he has suffered for it, as has the girl due to publicity etc. He ain’t coming back to us so it’s a non thread innit

You think it's right that the 15 year old girl here is the one that should be harrassed for her part in it? If you had a 15 year old daughter being groomed by a professional footballer you'd apportion the blame to her and think she deserves all she gets?
Clearly many take the view that she 'knew what she was doing', and somehow this makes it ok. She was 15 years old.

I wasn't meaning to be patronising Hep but reading it back I probably came across that way. If it was my daughter first and foremost I'd be fuming at Johnson. However mature a 15 year old might be it's pretty difficult I'd imagine not to get carried away when a professional footballer shows an interest.
All I was saying is that she suffered a lot from judgements at the time and clearly is still suffering here. A lot to cope with at 15 years old. Whether it's 'ruined' her life I guess only she can tell.
No, what SK did was wrong in naming her, I think of course what AJ did was wrong, very wrong the way he is being made to look is wrong also, he's being made out to be a predatory peadophile who's a danger to kids, it not true.

Who is this aimed at? I can't find a single post where people have said grooming a child is ok. Please show me the "minority" you speak of.

Erm, how about the people saying that they'd be happy to see a registered sex offender given a very high profile job back where he'd not only be earning millions but be a role model for people in an age group that he now has a history of grooming? Take off your red and white tinted glasses for a moment and imagine he was a TV presenter, or a politician, walking straight back into those jobs. There'd be outrage, and rightly so.

No, Im not saying that, what im saying is AJ was premedated they are both terrible and thats not im saying. AJ planned this, Alonso didnt plan it. Im not saying thats its better or worse the rights and wrongs of our justice system need to be looked at but i dont know how people can het past the fact he abused his poaituon and groomed an underage girl.

This is my last post on the thread as its pointless hes never coming back to Sunderland
I follow that, but it reads like youd be happier with Alonso playing than AJ. This seems to be the consensus and seems to be viewed as very cut and dry. I don't think it is that simple

Surely would never happen. If it did, I would never set foot in the Stadium of Light again.

Bet you were gutted that you missed the great escape under Poyet. I'm assuming you didn't set foot in the SoL when Marcos Alonso was here?

QED.

So you’ll never go again if something that is never going to happen actually happens.
Yeah imagine playing someone you know is guilty of grooming a child, would never happen here......well maybe not twice anyway.

What about this fella ? if you are going to drive pissed and drugged up on Coke at double the speed limit with no licence surely you must know there's a chance you could kill someone ?

How’s he only got 4 and half years for that

Whilst I believe that once your sentence is served you should be able to return to civilian life it’s also important to factor in what profession that would be. Footballers are a priveledged bunch who are in the the spotlight. Imagine being the victim and seeing this bloke on tv or in papers still living his lavish lifestyle. With all the safe guarding and issues that would follow it’s just not worth it. And finally, and more importantly I personally don’t want this kind of behaviour tolerated or accepted by my club, we ballsed it up the first time, let’s not compound it further

This^. Some ppl should be ashamed quite frankly

that works both ways though. he must be ten millions down in lost earnings while inside, millions less going forwards because he wont get a massive contract again. also his reputation on an epic level. yes he had privilige but he has paid a price for his actions far greater than a regular bloke would have.

I thought the sentence was too long but it's shocking that people would actually be happy with him playing for us again. He used his position as a player at SAFC to groom an underage fan, and yet some would be happy with him playing for us again?!

You sound like one of these jealous chavs on facebook who thinks soldiers should be paid the same as wayne rooney and wants all sex offenders executed because it makes you sound all hard and moral. AJ has served his time, and paid a phenomenal image and financial price in the process. Let him get back to work.

would you be ok if he played somewhere else?
