Adam Johnson

He's dead.

it's an analogy a hypothetical one.....Johnson should never be employed in a position again where he can manipulate his stature to feed his seedy dirty gratification. There's obviously something deeply wrong for him to have pursued this. No sane normal guy in his 20s irregardless of what he had in life would have thought sex texting a 14yr old then fingerblasting her when she was 1t behind a Chinese takeaway was a good idea. He obviously has no morals or values either

The guys actions were indefensible.
He fully deserved a custodial sentence.
I dont want him back and neither does safc I am certain.

However I am convinced his lengh of sentence was based on his life style as a "professional footballer".
Seen teachers and policeman in the news afterwards equally guilty of grooming who had far shorter sentences.
And black cab drivers who get one year for each proven offence.
My opinion for what its worth.

You are probably right. Those other people don't get long enough sentences due to the overcrowding of British jails. Johnson's sentence was fair. These other sentences for grooming and similar offences are too lenient

You mentioned Jimmy Saville doing a job which is explicitly associated with the safeguarding of children. It's a strawman's argument.

That it kills people. And it’s f***ing absurd that “the second amendment” is an argument against banning the things

Laws aren’t f***ing sacrosanct, they should make sense. It doesn’t

cars kill people.....shall we ban them too

I've never said I'm an advocate of it I just said I own them why do I own them......because I can

welcome to america

depends what you've done really and what you're being employed as

Footballers do lots of community work with children.....would you let Jimmy Saville run a girl guides camp?

Of course not but, comparing them is like comparing that bellend Plymouth goalkeeper (who I don't think should have been allowed to play again) to Ian Brady.

All depends how the law is interpreted from the quick google I did, so there's still a lot of ambiguity and it could well be decided on a case to case basis with the details and people involved....didn't ribery have some problems like this at some point?

"At age 14, a teenager may have sex with other youths under age 18. This prevents the needless criminalization of older youths who are romantically involved with younger teenagers. German legislators feel that it's ridiculous to throw a 17 year old kid into juvie for being in love with a 15-year-old, and they may or may not feel the same way about a legal adult.

This is where the legal situation gets tricky. If the above-mentioned 15-year-old's boyfriend happens to be 18, he is not automatically guilty of statutory rape, unlike in the US. German legal authorities will only step in if either the legal minor or her legal guardians file a police report against the adult.

If the parents file a report but the minor insists that the sexual relationship is/was perfectly consensual, the outcome may depend on the mental maturity of the minor as determined by a psychologist. If it turns out that the minor is mature and knowledgeable enough to give informed consent, the judge is probably inclined to agree with the minor's judgment and will simply close the case. However, a judge may decide differently if the adult partner is not 18 or 19, but instead 30 or 40. ....
Johnson was 25 or so wasn't he? Don't know how that would be viewed over there

In other words, German adults are well advised to keep their hands off of teenagers under 16. And most people have the good sense to do just that, so there is no need to criminalize the occasional 18- or 19-year-old who has a relationship with a particularly mature 15-year-old whose parents don't have any objections. In other words, Germans feel that the spirit of the law is more important than the letter when it comes to matters of the heart, but this doesn't mean that kiddie chasers get a free pass."
Ribery was in a France I think. However I still think what Johnson did woukd be illegal in Germany, which was my basic point.

Then fair play to that company. However if one offered him a job, then that company is the one in the wrong not the person

I agree. Id say the person had some neck for thinking they go waltz back into their previous profession as well mind

That’s your argument

I won’t bother if that’s the level of debate you can muster

That's the American mentality and societies mentality in general I didn't say it was my argument

why do people flock to Amsterdam to smoke dope.....because they can

why do people go to Thailand to satisfy their dark sexual needs.....because they can

why do people in America have an arsenal of guns.....because they can

see the pattern now

this is way off topic though about people on here stating they'd be happy for a nonce to wear the shirt....how f***ing low has SAFC sank for people to have them views

Amazing when it comes to football some people’s morals just take a nosedive into the gutter.

Okay, he’s not Joesph Fritzl but he’s a convicted sex offender that I don’t want on SAFC’s books.

This all owa, he should be able to pursue a career of his choice once he has done his time, but if any club is stupid enough to touch him then I hope the club gets what they deserve, imagine if it was your son our daughter who was the one abused, you would want to knack the fell not see him in a multi million pound industry earning a fortune without a care in the world, I hope he ends up cleaning bogs out something similarly as shite as that

Absolute nonsense

I agree with you about Johnson and SAFC but the rest is nonsense

Nee idea but from the little I've read, it seems a lot is down to the judge, psychologist and the girl herself. He was what 25 or so at the time so I suppose a good lawyer could put forward that he's not so far over the age that a case wouldn't be brought as opposed to say a 40 year old.
Some f***ing weird laws around the world, but I suppose most other countries think ours weird too

Then prison has worked and he won't commit a similar crime. Which is exactly what rehabilitation is for. It doesnt mean everything goes back to how it was for Adam Johnson.

So if he has been both punished and rehabilitated then why shouldn't it? If schemes are winning awards for helping ex-offenders into work, why should this ex-offender be denied it?

Wouldn't have him back personally. I understand the argument when he's done his time he's a free man and can do we wants/have a career ect. but signing him would be absolutely toxic for an already toxic club. Imagine celebrating a goal from him like - disgusting.

For all the reasons I've stated previously.

His status as a professional footballer probably did play a part in the length of his sentence but it probably wasn't the sole factor. He apparently went on like a total dickhead throughout the trial and that can't have helped his cause if that was the case.
