She may be but she is not an expert lawyer in child protection matters and her criminal law experience is out of date. The Club took professional advice and acted upon it and it would be Byrne who made that decision albeit I'd bet my last penny that Short was consulted/advised before anything happened. A CEO may have the ultimate responsibility for a decision but they have support staff and retained expertise to ensure that all bases are covered.

I'm not saying it is,but,if the club is in the shit here and, say, sponsors withdraw support or something like that, the buck stops with her, marra. The outside advisors won't be under fire...it'll be her and rightly so.

A 15 year old is a child.

That is why he has been done for sexual activity with a child.

A 15 year old child is obviously older than a 12 year old child, who is older than an eight year old child etc... But a 15 year old is a child, regardless.
A child who was bragging to her mates that she was going to "ride him" and only reported it when her parents found out.

All completely irrelevant to the fact was a child when sexually abused.

Teenage girls have ALWAYS been infatuated with stars, in the past it was mainly pop stars.......Its what teenage girls do, their childish crushes only become a problem when people like Johnson prey on them and abuse them.

EXACTLY this.

As for the smart phones and the internet being to blame what tripe....The club just like schools etc operate in a world where social media and the internet are now normal......Teens get crushes on their teachers all the time, surely you would not blame anybody but the teacher if anything happened as a result of that crush and surely if the school became aware of it and did not ensure that teacher was never near another child then you would be up in arms. The standard approach is to suspend a teacher on full pay till the case is resolved, despite the fact many accusations ultimately prove to be malicious, its how we keep kids safe from those who do have bad intentions.
If you can't see that this is an issue, then you're part of the problem. Bury your head in the sand as long as you like, but letting children have snap chat, and smart phones is leading us down a very sorry road. 13 year old lasses posing daily for selfies, covered in make up, and then posting them for all to see, is horrible.
