Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Ok then, imagine it turns out a few people knew he was going to plead guilty at the last second. They wanted to give us the best hope of survival by playing him despite how wrong it was. I assume you will insist that any points gained while he was playing should be removed from our total???

Your example is utter nonsense as there is no basis in it - we didn't act illegally, or against the rules of the game so shoild have no points deducted.

That said, I'd rather we went down than play Johnson assuming we knew about his guilt (and we did). The stench and shame it's left around the club is horrible, and will tarnish us for some time.

Why is that letter aimed at Margaret Byrne? It's sensational nonsense to put that front page.
The answers to those questions can only be given by Adam Johnson. It's not the club's fault that he did what he did.

The man who wrote the letter is nothing more than an attention seeker. Amazing that the Echo think it's a good letter and to put it front page defies belief.

Echo is full of Mags fact, wouldn't buy it, read it or wipe my arse with it!!!

Sick of people having a go at Margaret Byrne.

Adam Johnson was a valuable employee to this football club. Not playing him would surely have relegated us and cost the club £100m, making the current annual at the club look minuscule in comparison to what would happen if relegation occured. It was an unethical decision to play Johnson but businesses often have to make unethical decisions to thrive! Margaret Byrne did what she did to save dozens of jobs.

Wow

I saw a Facebook post yesterday with statements from the Det Insp in the Johnson case from the time of his arrest and then one from post case but I can't find it again - anyone got a link??

The stench will probably not go away. And it's an SAFC stench, not just a Margaret Byrne stench.

what was his thought train here.. i'm going to write to the club expressing my distaste. ah i think i better contact my local paper and tell them i'm doing....fuck off ffs

One thing that has annoyed me a lot about this sorry episode, is that some people, especially those fans who have been interview on TV, Radio, or journalists, presenters, etc, anyone who has that view point is that they don't realise it doesn't make their opinion fact

They are perfectly entitled to feel that SAFC should have suspended him, that is fine, it's their opinion, but it isn't a 100% issue, myself and I have no doubt thousands of others think the complete opposite.

The balance just isn't there in the media, and it is annoying the fuck out of me. Just because some gonk rights a 3 pages column in The Guardian doesn't mean he is right and that SAFC should answer all these questions.

It really is

Simple answer buddy, don't bloody come to the games if you are that bothered.
This but in the world when everybody thinks their opinion is state of the art
Toilet paper rags like the echo are more than happy to source any old shite to flog their fish wrapper .... even if it means publishing utter "me me me" shite like this bellends faux indignation

To the gent in the article please fuck off and never come back

f***ing hell:eek::eek:

Wow, I didn't know that.

I never knew PP9'd was a common verb until my mate became a warder in Durham ...... it comes from the practice of filling a sock with batteries to beat someone with

"What happened to you Jenkins?"

"I've been PP9'd sir."

I saw a Facebook post yesterday with statements from the Det Insp in the Johnson case from the time of his arrest and then one from post case but I can't find it again - anyone got a link??

Det Insp Sampson told jurors that on the day of Johnson's arrest she met with SAFC chief exec Margaret Byrne to inform her of the allegations facing the player.

"I disclosed the offences which Mr Johnson had been arrested for, and considered safeguarding for any other young people who may come into contact with him in his role as a professional footballer."

The senior officer said particulars of the offences were not discussed, as Johnson had not been interviewed. What he said in interview was still not disclosed to the club.

It still doesn't justify the clubs actions in playing him after May when they did know the content of what had happened IMO

No they were sourced from Johnson.

So what?

You don't think in those 800 odd messages there wasn't any content that was a bit suspect? Enough for the club to think this could end badly and therefore put him at arms length until the trial?

But of course, nobody at SAFC read them. I mean, why would they?

I think one thing is clear from this thread. The majority of us just want to get on with supporting our team and people like this certainly don't speak for us. We have 10 massive games that could shape the future of this club and we need to be in this together. Anyone taking the moral high ground is causing more damage if anything. I think Byrne will end up resigning, I'm not arsed if she does. I'm more bothered about the people who can get us 14/15 points so that my team dine at the top table next season.

Well it's not a case of is or isn't true. I suspect that the statement is relatively true. But it misses out bits and is very cleverly worded to skirt around issues

The club statement specifically avoids the implications made by Johnsons QC. The club has a recent history of being quite candid and open when accused of something, therefore I find it very, very hard to believe they haven't omitted some stuff from the statement.

It appears that the vast majority of non Sunderland supporters feel the same, judging by the overwhelming negative reaction to us.
No it doesn't.

The club referred to receiving documents and passing them on immediately. You either believe that or you don't. If you don't then any further statement from them is pointless anyway.

I'd agree aye. As much as Byrne has made countless fuck ups, this included, I'm confident that she didn't get the information and keep it to herself. There'll have been discussions at board level where the decision was made.

She certainly deserves her share of the blame, but she's an easy scapegoat for people as well.
