Couldn't see that one coming a mile off like
Surely we were totally entitled to play him, he was still our player. Yes it might have been wrong morally but thats it, no other reason we couldn't play him.
That's my biggest problem with the it. The response is illogical. The way the club behaved is a logical follow on from them not knowing of the admission of guilt. Maybe that does suggest incompetence but collusion seems unlikely.I have an idea for a fictitious drama being played out in the depths of Tyne & Wear

Woman: Sir we've got a major issue, A player has been arrested on a charges of a sexual nature with a minor, no details but the press will be all over it
Boss: Get him suspended immediately

Woman: Sir it's been confirmed, he's pleading not guilty but I've seen the evidence myself. Text messages the lot. He did it, no doubt.
Short: Get him playing as soon as possible.
Not sure the viewers would keep watching badly scripted illogical shite like that

S21With his brief in attendance?
I have my own theories about what went on here, and why. I'm not about to share them mind so don't ask.![]()
Because, at this time, there are a number of issues which are points of conjecture, at best. Did the Police give the club Adam Johnson's statement (something it appears they shouldn't have done)? If they did, did anyone at the club read these, or did they just pass them immediately to Johnson's brief? What was the advice from the PFA that led to Johnson's suspension being rescinded? Did Adam Johnson plan to defend all charges, but change his mind at the last minute on legal advice? Were the club aware of anything other than Johnson maintaining his innocence and his intention to plead not guilty? The list of unknowns is quite long and everyone of them compounds the confusion surrounding what may, or may not have been said. Why are a minority still maintaining that club have done nothing wrong? Is it just wilful blindness?
An eviction notice?![]()

This for me. People want Byrne to be guilty. The statement is poor but it doesn't prove they're guilty. People demanding they deny these allegations would just pick holes in the next statement or say they don't believe her. Sad state of affairs. Johnson is the one who should be the recipient of people's anger.I certainly wish the club had clarified this or do at some point soon to put the matter to bed once and for all.
Given the way things have been twisted against the club by the media so far it's obvious to see why they would be reluctant to give any more statements though.
They have already stated: "Some documents were received relating to the case, which were immediately sent to Mr. Pownall for his attention. However, the club was not in a position to make any judgment on the outcome of the case"
They could be more clear about specific allegations against them but that is a denial and the fact they didn't specifically mention certain things does not mean they are guilty of them.

This anarl. No one knows for certain that the club has done anything wrong. There are two camps, those saying "the club is in the wrong" and those saying "we don't know the club is in the wrong". No one is saying for definite that the club did nothing wrong.Because, at this time, there are a number of issues which are points of conjecture, at best. If the club have done something stupid, then they have to take responsibility, but, there's a lot of 'they're clearly guilty' being bandied about based on incomplete and conflicting comments that have been interpreted against a timeline that is very confused.
From what I've read, most things that are being interpreted as people saying the club has done nothing wrong are actually criticisms of people saying the club definitely have done something wrong.
Then I would be relieved. No one is going to any lengths at all. They're stating an opinion.
If Johnson was innocent until proven guilty then so are the club. There's an accusation levied at them that's all. There's no proof of any wrongdoing as yet. If that proof comes out then everyone will have the same reaction. Heads should roll.
Say Margaret Byrne comes out today and denies she was ever told or that she's seen the documents. What will you say then?
I suspect a lot of the people on this thread jumping in with two feet based on a couple of quotes from johnsons defence are the same ones who have been blaming everything on Byrne and the board.
Demand answers by all means but people on here are desperate for her to be guilty. They've already made their minds up and they've all misplaced their anger towards Johnson on her.
Perhaps, they aren't the ones who were brought up in court and mentioned by the police thoughI wonder if Adidas were given an admission by Johnson, and copies of the 834 WhatsApp messages. He was under contract with them too.
