Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

This is my longest thread marathon by a f***ing length.

It involves; Sunderland AFC, a criminal trial, Margaret Byrne f***ing up, a badly worded statement, Reiver and Janey getting the wrong end of the stick repeatedly. Even a few posts from Ollie C defending anything and everything the club ever does.

I was never going to not post a lot in this one...:lol:
In your opinion we have the wrong end of the stick, or do you speak for the whole board now because from what I've read as many agree with my opinion (not me personally but my opinion) as disagree. It's fine to disagree, people are entitled to their opinion, I respect that, however you don't seem to afford people the same respect.

Do you? To suggest suspending him on full pay would lead to him missing out on any bonuses in the first place? He might have no bonuses in his contract at all for you and I know.
If he did have bonuses like feature bonuses, goal bonuses or assist bonuses then by suspending him we would be restricting his income. That is illeagal. So comparing it to a school teacher or carer is stupid

See, I wonder if he DID tell the club that he kissed a 15 year old girl, BUT used the same lie he told Stacey... That the girl told him she was 16. Makes it more defendable.
That is plausible and what I thought was likely. If the club had said pretty much that I would have given them a pass.

Again, the club should have had no problem denying the accusations made which suggest the complete opposite? Yes?
I would expect a bit more professionalism from such a high profile company such as SAFC. They washed their hands with him as soon as he pleaded guilty, I don't see this as anything different. They don't feel they have anything to answer

He is in a position of responsibility, he was a high profile employee of a club that has a significant public interest.

No, he categorically isn't.

Again, the club should have had no problem denying the accusations made which suggest the complete opposite? Yes?

They have denied them:

"Some documents were received relating to the case, which were immediately sent to Mr. Pownall for his attention. However, the club was not in a position to make any judgment on the outcome of the case"

i personally find it hard to believe that if AJ did tell the board the truth from the start, that the board would risk everything just to keep him at the club a little longer

this, but you can bet there's cynics out there who'll say the multi millions in tv, sponsorship,advertising/shirts.tickets etc etc might have summit to do with it

The lead investigator on the Adam Johnson case, Det Insp Aelfwynn Sampson from Durham Police, has told the BBC that there was a detailed meeting between herself and Sunderland chief executive Margaret Byrne on the day the player was arrested.

At the meeting on 2 March it was made known that Johnson had messaged and kissed the 15-year-old girl.

The senior officer has today said Johnson's victim has asked why was Adam Johnson ever allowed to play for the club again after that meeting.

So the investigating officer has said she told Byrne about the kissing and messages.....
