Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Its not as black and white as that though is it.

When this kicked off there were 3 camps, can do no wrong, wait and see and shouldn't be playing.

Given the nature but more importantly the age thing, I was in he shouldn't play brigade. Like many others I thought the club took the right decision initially to suspend him, then the wrong one to let him play. I still think that as do many others, I suspect if it was a player we didn't need he would of stayed suspended.

The Byrne thing is a different issue, no one in their right mind can think that some of the decisions that have been made over the past few years have been good, more like bordering on the farcical this is just another poor one in a long list. But its carry on regardless. There is a vast difference between supporting the club and blindly following and for me I hate watching the club lurch from one crisis to another year after year especially when a 3 year old could see how some of the decisions were going to play out.

So what?

That's how things are and everyone knows it ........ the same for Rooney, Giggs, etc.

No, the complete opposite

The naive ones are the ones believing the words of a convicted sex offender who lied about his crimes from day one, but who choose to believe everyword he has to say here.

That is naive

Hope that helps
Whos doing that like?

From the agreed facts in the case & the statement the club have either been incompetent in not reviewing the evidence they had to hand or have deliberately turned a blind eye to it.

You might be happy with that but I'm not, there are people at the club who should be made accountable for their actions & certainly still have a case to answer.

FFS man, just step back and look at what you've just posted and other jokers have 'liked'.

Have you ever been to a football match?

Do you really believe any club statement, no matter what, would stop abuse from other supporters.

Dear me ....... people on here really detach themselves from reality when they're on a keyboard bashing crusade.

Yes I've been to loads of matches thanks. No I don't think the club statement would have stopped any abuse from other fans, however they we are the ones who left to feel the brunt of it until the questions are answered.

Nobody is on a keyboard crusade. I think you need to calm down and get off your high horse, there is nothing wrong with people addressing a subject that is major news and has the football club that we all love at the center of it.

I couldn't give a shit, I have said many times, it is totally irrelevant. The club did everything by the book

If you have a problem morally with the decision, that is fine, but the club are fine from a legal standpoint, and that is all that matters.

Couldn't disagree more with that.

Nobody is enjoying it, just can't fathom people putting their heads in the sand and saying we did nowt wrong...
I'm mixed tbh, could and probably should have been handled better however I'm not convinced its as clear as cut as some are making out. Also I'm amazed that the club are getting more stick than the despicable fucker who put them in this position.

Again, nobody is disputing any of this.
We knew all of this anyway. The club's statement cleverly ignores the question of "Did they know he was guilty (they had evidence that clearly showed he was guilty) and yet played him anyway?

The club will get slaughtered over the coming days. The club knew what was said in court, they know what the press are like.
Yet they failed to mention this in their statement. Why?

The concern of many fans is that it is because they knew all along. The club needs to address this issue and answer this question or none of this will go away.

My concern is that they aren't answering the question because the allegation is true. Like a politician trying to issue a statement that says nothing.

I hope I'm wrong!

Exactly. Why??

It doesn't at all: "Some documents were received relating to the case, which were immediately sent to Mr. Pownall for his attention. However, the club was not in a position to make any judgment on the outcome of the case"

Sunderland haven't broken the law though. It may be morally wrong if the allegations of SAFC knowing are true, but Adam Johnson committed the crime and has been served justice.

People can stamp their feet all they want but I feel it's likely that this will be off the agenda in the national press within a week or two and not much of interest will come out.

I coming more from the press angle. The club is now a very convenient target for the press to vent their spleen at. The mere hint of a cover up will have them sniffing around for ages

This absolutely this. Johnson has played a blinder in deflecting attention here.

But you don't know the facts so how can you make accusations?
We know the club were present at a meeting between Johnson & his QC where evidence was presented. We know the club had that evidence.
What we don't know is whether the club choose not to examine the evidence or whether they read it & ignored it anyway.
So for me it's either being incompetent or complicit.
