Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

It is his fault. Absolutely. However, and it is a big one, which I am not comfortable with is the handling of the case at club level. Poor morals, massive incompetence or negligence. Sorry, I don't find it acceptable and feel this will run and run, that is due to the statement that the club produced and it's lacks of definitive denial of allegations put to them.
I suspect even if the club had moved to categorically deny it, it wouldn't have been enough.

What if they did see a text message referring to a kiss, and he insisted it was an innocent peck type of kiss and not a full on tongues n all type of snog? How many young girls have had a little kiss in the cheek or forehead from their idols? I bet loads and I bet many were watched by beaming parents taking pictures, it's about context.. People are making out that the club have been part of a massive protection operation when the reality is they've been as hoodwinked and manipulated as the lass. The club were painted into a corner, it's bad enough having the rest of the world on our case without the amateur sleuths from our own fanbase trying to take the moral fuckin high road.
Excellent post

Sorry, there is a moral high road though.

That is just your bloody opinion though

Look at this thread, there are 10s, 100s of posters who don't share this view point

Just because you have a problem with it, doesn't mean everyone does you know.

That proves the point, people have different opinions of things, but nobody should be held accountable, because they didn't do anything wrong.

You think you are talking for the fans, that we are all morally outraged, some are, some arent

It doesn't make your opinion any more valid than mine or others, just because you are taking the moral high ground

I don't expect a response from this from you but I am right.

In a nutshell yes. The stuff that came out in court, and that is now plastered over the papers, is that even though he said he would plead not guilty, the evidence the club had clearly indicated that he was in fact guilty of at least two charges. So how he intended to plead is not relevant.
Maybe the stuff in court is not true??
But that's what everyone wanted the club to say.

The club says it was not in a position to make a judgement on the outcome of the case. Is everyone saying this is untrue?

Absolute bollocks.

The likes of you would stamp your little feet and claim the club were lying.

Don't even try to claim you'd say, "Ah well, in that case I think it's time to et this drop."

Just admit it man, you're f***ing loving it

Loving it? Far from it.

There's clearly a section of our fans that think the club can do no wrong.

I really hope they issue a statement that clarifies everything. If not this will run and run.

They couldn't answer them directly because it would have been an admission of guilt. It's clear that they knew because they have skirted around the issue and focused on the not guilty plea and not their knowledge of his guilt
He had them by the bollocks and his legal team knew it. They knew he would change his plea but made sure he got another 12 months wages.

Yes you are right! Everyone has opinions and it is being debated.

This is what I don't get. He told Byrne he kissed the girl under the age of 16. That was in May but he pleaded not guilty to all charges in June. That doesn't add up? Is it possible that Johnson told them there was a meeting and this kiss was just a harmless pack on the cheek. Or it was a moment of weakness and he didn't know what age she was at the time?
I was going to say this. When he "admitted" to a "senior official" at the club that he kissed her, what context was given and/or understood. Kissing a 15 year old isn't de facto illegal - context is everything.

What I am really struggling with is the whatsapp conversation that AJ's lawyers passed to Byrne. Why on earth would his DEFENCE team pass incriminating evidence to his employer? That's a court case in itself! Is there not a huge possibility that the messages passed to the club were in fact incomplete, the chatty start to the conversation and not the later dubious stuff. Only the club, its lawyer and AJ's people know the answer to this.
