Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

I'll agree with his motivation.

In fact I am still completely confused as to the relevance of the club at all in this. It is all 'hear say' unless they stand up in court to defend it.
Good post AugustusLAD

One of my senior employees is arrested for a sex offence.
He tells me in a meeting with his QC that he kissed the alleged victim and sent her texts and provides me with transcripts of the police interview and texts.
Separately the police warn me of my child protection obligations.
I am a lawyer who has practised criminal law.

Do I spend an afternoon reviewing the evidence for myself or not?

Hmm.tricky..
Do you make yourself judge and juror?

Of course not man. You ignore the conversation, get rid of the documents out of your possession. I can not believe anyone of a sane mind believes that for a second. Also, why the fuck did we not clearly say "Adam Johnson did not inform us that he kissed a 15 year old "

That would have done it.

Or believe that a defence QC wouldn't twist information, while just stopping short of lieing and committing perjury they will do anything they possibly can to get their client off, they are wicked at it which is why they get a kings ransom.
Read the club statement man. They had the transcripts. It's crystal...

Did that actually happen or have you just made it up?

Give over! If you were 15 and some female athlete you admired was showing an interest in you and was hinting that they wanted to be in a relationship you would have said no?

If I was the lass I would have done the same tbh. Because I know that people at that age are immature. Johnson is no different to any of the creeps who groom young girls.
I'd have attempted to rag the arse off Jet when i was 15 like. I'd still be bragging about it now if i had n'arl.

Do you think maybe that a sexual predator, a person at the very bottom of the social scale, who was cynical enough to lie and cheat and abuse and pretend it all didn't happen might just have been pissed off with the club who had just sacked him? Maybe a tactic to deflect or diminish blame? Well if the club knew and thought it was ok members of the jury, maybe you could go lightly on me too?

People on here are desperate to put the club down,

It just doesn't make any sense to me at the moment.

He said he wasn't guilty then the club were given evidence. We don't know exactly what documents or evidence were given though. The club have their own legal advisers and would know the sexual messages would be read out in court. I can't get my head around why they would continue to play him, after seeing those messages when it was clearly obvious he was guilty.

The initial messages were just chatty, with nothing untoward seemingly going on. If I had just had those messages and someone saying they were not guilty, I would believe him. Based on the info in the press and his not guilty pleas when the story broke, many Sunderland fans thought along those line and continued to cheer for him on the pitch. We've all been taken for mugs by his lies. I was horrified when I read the messages that came out in the court and feel sick that I believed him initially.

Awful morals or massive incompetence. Either way, someone should be held accountable and binned. The club is not a bit part organization. Decisions like this have to be made, 100% correct. Whatever reason, they have not been and a statement that avoids answering the allegations directly, shouldn't keep someone in a 100k a year job.

Did that actually happen or have you just made it up?

They said that in the statement.

"Documents were recieved but immediately passed to the QC"

The statement says he told them he intended to defend all the charges and that they had no knowledge that he would change his plea until it happened on the first day of the trial. They say they utterly refute any allegation they knew of his intention to change his plea.

Again, nobody is disputing any of this.
We knew all of this anyway. The club's statement cleverly ignores the question of "Did they know he was guilty (they had evidence that clearly showed he was guilty) and yet played him anyway?

The club will get slaughtered over the coming days. The club knew what was said in court, they know what the press are like.
Yet they failed to mention this in their statement. Why?

The concern of many fans is that it is because they knew all along. The club needs to address this issue and answer this question or none of this will go away.

My concern is that they aren't answering the question because the allegation is true. Like a politician trying to issue a statement that says nothing.

I hope I'm wrong!

The club will get slaughtered over the Viking days. The club knew what was said in court, they know what the press are like.

100% agree with every word of this.

Do you know why they were passed to the QC? Are the club there to make judgement on a case going to court?

Its nee way as clear cut as people are making out. Could, probably should, have been handled better but the bottom line is the club were put in a terrible no win position.

Unfortunately the club statement doesn't respond to the central allegation that Johnson (as he testified in court) admitted to a senior official of the club that he'd kissed the girl and that the club had seen some of the evidence. If it's lies the question will obviously be asked why they didn't deny it in their statement instead of focusing on whether they knew he was going to plead guilty

I know I'm thick, but,is it the suggestion that Johnson told them he was guilty, but was going to plead not guilty, and they took advantage of this in order to play him so as not to weaken the team?

Don't agree. They should have acted responsibly. Failing to answer the allegations directly means that the waters and cloudy. The seriousness of the matter demand, total transparency. We havnt achieved that will the statement. Hence the follow up.

Some wankers on here mind. digging for shit because their lives are that boring they need to make up shite on a message board.
I've read the same statement as these sad bastards and cant for the life of me see what they have to answer for. A proven liar and pervert against the word of the club. You bunch of sad tw@ts.

It doesn't fail to answer anything.
