Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

I suspect someone at the club maybe encouraged to fall on their sword tomorrow. Either that or a previous employee will be made a scapegoat for the decision to unsuspend.

Mind you, whilst I'm disappointed with the way the club appears to have handled it, I dont think any other club would be different. Money determines every decision.

He ran like a f***ing pedo as well. With his neck dipped in and his arms out by his side. f***ing inbred

Honestly I'm pleased he lied to the club because he scored that goal against Newcastle.
Now though, I hope he gets anally raped on a weekly basis in prison. The dirty snide is despicable on a human being level, but his position as a Sunderland player makes it even more shocking. He's dragged the clubs name through the shit with him the arrogant, ugly, creepy bastard. He epitomises everything that's wrong with the world, people would kill to have his talent and opportunities and he's texting 15 year olds on the sly and thinking he's getting away with it. I'd be embarrassed if he was 24 or something, but 28. Sickening. At least jimmy Seville kept it undercover, the thick f***ing pervert
The past is dark, the past is orange

Agreed completely.

If SAFC are innocent in all this then there isn't that much they need to say to prove it. The current statement was a a cop out and I really hope they can refute the allegations. Otherwise Byrne should be sacked, but unfortunately it's hard to imagine only she knew (if she did) and not the rest of the boardroom.

Sorry state of affairs imo.
There's no obligation to do such a thing. Not quite sure why you think there is.

Everyone should read this who thinks the club's statement was ok: good summary in my opinion and worth a read by anyone. From Louise Taylor...

.... Even if it is accepted that the club could not at that point rely on a guilty plea or a jury’s judgment as a basis for sacking Johnson, it appears Byrne, a qualified solicitor, was in possession of substantial evidence that Johnson had, at a minimum, conducted an unambiguously inappropriate relationship with a minor.

That's the nub of it. What did she know, what more could she have known, whose advice did she take, and what was the main influence in her decision making??

But the clubs statement refutes that they knowingly had access to any document or opportunity to act earlier than they did. So while they refute the suggestion, the papers still drag it out. I'm afraid Ms Taylor has told me absolutely nothing new in this piece.

Sacked for what

They did everything by the book, and by the law, you don't just sack people because you disagree with them
