Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

only thing I wish was clarified was whether they knew he had kissed and texted the lass.

They have confirmed they knew nowt about his pleas but haven't confirmed whether they knew about the other (as was said in court they did)

(for the record I don't believe for 1 minute that they knew)

They admit in the statement they got 'some documents'. It seems weird if they didn't include the whatsapps they didn't clarify this in the statement like.

Was there any information about who Johnson's lawyer was in the police station during the trial by the way? I'd have thought it could well have been an in-house lawyer... in which case they would have known at least as much as was admitted in interview (eg. the kissing)?

The club said he said he was fighting for his innocence, the club believed him. I believe the club over a pervert trying to save face. So fuck off wums and arseholes that still choose have a pop at the club ya fuck witted bastards.

Daily mail Article saying sick sunderland fans sang he shags who he wants at hull.
Sickening act etc etc.
Sang his name glorifying him etc.
Looks like the press are looking for scapegoats and were getting slaughtered for it.

of course his legal team would have argued they couldn't get a fair trail as he'd been publicly dumped by the club. The trail was moved to Bradford from Durham for that very reason as the judge believed they'd never find an impartial Jury in the north east

Why would his legal team object to him being suspended with pay? That's normal procedure ffs.

I'm sure Dave Kitson has a mutual friend with Miss Flounders like.

Why would the club be provided with police transcripts.
Be like them leaking details to your work before youve been found guilty. Dont for one moment believe it happened
They wouldn't be and it didn't happen.

Anyone who knew should go but all that is Known is as soon as Adam Johnson was guilty of any of the acts he was sacked.

The longer in jail the better.

Don't think the club are in any way to blame, he's tried everything to wriggle free. ....(Allegedly, no Libel intended)

As long as it's not true that (i) the club were given copies of the transcripts and whatsapp messages at the meeting last year, and (ii) Johnson told the club at the meeting that he had met and kissed a 15 year old girl, then you are right. However IF it is true, then I think the club have acted incorrectly in allowing him to play. If it isn't true, why has the Club not actually dealt with those allegations in the statement? If it's not true, then what is the club statement referring to when it says "Some documents were received relating to the case". If those documents weren't the transcript and whatsapp messages, what were they?

I really am worried by the Club's attempt to skirt over the issues surrounding that meeting, and what the club were given/told at it. It looks really bad.

Pretty much spot on, I share your outrage ;)

It says in the statement that they lifted the ban because he refuted the charges and after consultation with the PFA

That's not good enough IMO. That wouldn't wash for most people and unions would accept their member being suspended with full pay pending investigation.

That would seem fair enough but he Pfa might have still moaned on and held the club to account.

Seems odd that the club would suspend him, then after this meeting, he's back in the squad. I think the club were as professional as it could be...they were put in an awful position and had to deal with a lot of delicate issues. Some of these posters would've shit their pants in the same position.

Aye, that probably would have been the best treatment - though it would too have been a lie and a similar shit storm would be occurring now. I don't agree with you on the first point, the club couldn't have known they would be presented with such evidence and admission having presumably (based on his being brought back from suspension) previous denials to the club. I think they were right to reintroduce him at that point. Without the benefit of hindsight at least.

He admitted in his police station interview he kissed her - that came out in trial - if they just asked for a copy of the tape before reinstating him they would have known.

I don't know, I think there would be much less of a shit storm than the current situation where it appears (allegedly and currently) like we've played someone we knew kissed a minor.

Sorry but that's bollocks. The club would not have risked everything (if they did know the truth will out) because he could have saved our season. The club would have been advised the whole time and I can guarantee this would not have been an option discussed. Far too damaging for that to be the case.
If he had told the club he was going to plead not guilty up until the trial then it's a possibility.

of course his legal team would have argued they couldn't get a fair trail as he'd been publicly dumped by the club. The trail was moved to Bradford from Durham for that very reason as the judge believed they'd never find an impartial Jury in the north east

They didn't need to suspend him, they didn't need to sack him, but on no planet could they actually be forced to select and play him in a match if they knew what it is being claimed they knew. And that is regardless of his plea intentions.
