Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

The Club said that they took legal advice and consulted with the PFA. Both can afford expensive lawyers who will examining every word being said now. I don't see this ending just yet.

That's a bit of a shady game by this copper. So we're back to where we were then - questioning what went on at the meeting in May.

She was asked something like 'generally speaking was it known that he kissed her?' and obviously said yes because the victim had told the police so it was known to them. It's not the fault of the police officer that the BBC are presenting the interview as new evidence against the club.

However, she did finish be saying 'the victim will be asking why is he still on the pitch', not that the victim is asking that. While the girl may well be, and has every right there be, asking that question, I don't think the police office should be speculating on her thoughts in public statements like that when ultimately his ongoing appearances were not a police matter

It's amazing what the press are allowed to get away with tbh.

The BBC:
Adam Johnson: Durham Police say officers told Sunderland of sex act

The chief executive of Sunderland Football Club was told about Adam Johnson's sexual activity with a 15-year-old fan more than a year ago, police have said.

Durham Police said Margaret Byrne was told on 2 March 2015, the day of Johnson's arrest, that he had messaged and kissed the schoolgirl.

Now click on the link and listen to what gets said...

We told the club we had an allegation of sexual activity, that they had met and exchanged messages however Adam Johnson HAD NOT been interviewed.

Therefore Sunderland were not told about the sexual activity, only the accusation of it. They decided to suspend him on the accusation of it, however, the maximum they can suspend on no pay is 2 weeks, bearing in mind Sunderland could not suspend him on full pay indefinitely as employees have a right to continue to exercise their profession if there is a real danger that they would lose their professional capabilities while out of daily professional training, most probably leading to a decrease in employability. So they basically had a choice to dismiss him on the accusations from the girl, or let him return to the club. I'm sure the club are a lot more wise to the rules than you and me

Furthermore, Johnson was ALWAYS going to plead guilty to the two charges that he admitted to, but he deliberately waited til the day of the trial to avoid being in the media for 6 months. If he pleaded guilty he would have been in the media every day until the date of his trial. Bearing in mind that there was going to be a jury that decided his guilt, he wanted as little as possible in the media, by admitting the first 2 allegations it was obvious he would have received bad publicity (as shown by the media when he admitted it)

Noone honestly thought he was actually going to plead not guilty when he had already admitted he knew she was underage and had kissed her in his police statements did they? There was no

of course the police told them he had been arrested but Johnson said he was innocent. innocent until proven guilty Johnson lied to everyone. the players union stuck by him he lied to them i dont here anyone slating them for getting his job back after being suspended. read the caption under the vid Det Insp Aelfwynn Sampson says she told Sunderland FC's chief executive about Adam Johnson's alleged sex act with a child on 2 March 2015.
we could have put him on a ducking stool and if he drowned he was innocent

That isn't what it says. The statement literally says 'During the time that she was present there was no suggestion whatsoever that Mr. Johnson would be changing his plea. Some documents were received relating to the case, which were immediately sent to Mr. Pownall for his attention. However, the club was not in a position to make any judgment on the outcome of the case nor on Mr. Johnson’s decision to defend all the allegations'

What it's saying is the club had 'some documents', which given they haven't suggested otherwise, are presumably the ones Johnson said (I would have thought if he said they had info they didn't the club would have refuted it). But because he was pleading not guilty, the club decided that what was contained in the documents didn't matter. So they presumably, based on that statement, did know, but decided that they didn't want to sack him 'because he was pleading not guilty'.

The club haven't refuting a thing Johnson said, all they're saying is 'that doesn't matter, what matters is he was pleading not guilty'.
No what matters is that he is refuting all allegations .

My feeling is that he was stupid, immature, arrogant, basically the modern spoilt football player.
Too stupid to realise the shit he was getting into.
The stupid arse could get laid every day of the week due to his fame.
He has enough money to have a 3way with two gorgeous escorts every night of the week if he wanted.
Instead he chose to try and get a 15 year old fan into bed.

It's just beyond my comprehension to be honest.
It's not simply about the sex. It's probably more about self-esteem, power and being a father to a newborn kid.

I believe the club over the police. Police trying to blow their own trumpet because they got something right for a change, but until he pleaded guilty no one apart from the victim and AJ knew he was guilty. End of!

Agendas everywhere now, it's grim and at the same time unsurprising people have little time for the victim when they have their Columbo heads on to find the truth.

The Reality is making accusations or assumptions without a true grasp on what actually happens just leads to yet more conjecture and speculation and that's something I'm sick to death of seeing with the case, we don't need an answer and it's pathetic to expect one really.
It's totally self serving and has no bearing on the case itself, so for me it doesn't require answering.

As I said before, there is one victim yet sadly quite a few seem to be on their own crusades to seek justice for what has happened.
Two points to that, The legal system has already Done just that and secondly nothing is gained by further bringing exposure to the case and dragging up potential reasons and figures.
Personal crusades and agendas and faux outrage Serve to help nobody other than to apportion blame to people who were thrown into a situation created by Johnson himself.

It's actually quite depressing seeing people with little to no understanding of the inner workings asking for resignations and scapegoats being cast if I'm perfectly honest.

One thread hides the news guys and we are falling for it.

If people want to read the thread for the information they can but the rest of us hardly need multiple threads on the same subject. It's one thread or else the board would be pages worth of Johnson news.

Apologies - I meant the fact that he said he intended to plead not guilty is irrelevant.

Why?
The club needs to follow its legal advice on this issue to many non public facts involved. What did the PFA tell Sunderland? What happened to innocent until guilty? I am with the club on this one and trust me they do not need to say anything more on this subject because at the moment they have done nothing wrong or the legal system will get Sunderland kicked out of the PL....

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

The collateral damage from all of this is horrendous really from the girl in question.. too everyone involved with Johnsons family...and he's probably not the 1st or the last..
not sure where safc should go now if things have been whitewashed to keep him on the pitch.
Decisions like those usually come from the very top...

Go to bed? Its 10.30am here man! Where does it say he admitted to anything but "kissing"? Hint: he didn't. Gan to bed man woman man.

full transcripts including the whatsapps where he was clearly aware she was underage were provided to the club, the club have not contested this, strange eh>? Good night/morning.

I can't be arsed going through 200 pages, can someone tell me a) the split between court is wrong/right. b) How the club got it wrong c) Is Maggie Burns getting strung up on a tree before the derby d) Are we going down?
