Adam Johnson appeal

I'm not a nonce sympathiser but any decent person can see that a 6 year sentence is especially harsh.

Any decent person would just be happy that he was put away for what he did.

Any decent person would not sympathise with the length of a prison sentence because any decent person would not commit a crime in the first place.

I think decent is totally the wrong word to use mate,

Friggin ell lads give yer heads a shake. He is convicted sex offender, who was grooming a 15 year old child. Should have got 10 years.
You give yours a shake. People are entitled to their opinion it's called democracy. Personally I couldn't give a flying f--k what he's got he shouldn't of done what he did. He has to take his punishment but a lot of people saying similar offences got less.

A decent person can sympathise with a prison sentence length. It's a sanctimonious person who says you can't.

You mean harsh for a critical Sunderland player. Not, I suspect for a Pakiatani taxi driver from Rotherham. Then of course there would be zero outcry.
Don't be daft.

What are you on about?

What are you on about?
Ridiculous comment mate no-one is allowed to debate prison sentence lengths. The Birmingham Six would still be in jail this fellas way of thinking saying no one decent can ever debate a prison sentence length. Absolutely staggering comment from the @Voice of fair play wants us to live in a society with no appeals and justice system. Expected better from a man who works in a role supposedly helping the vulnerable.

I just don't understand it. Like even people who commit heinous crimes like stabbing, child abuse etc. I sometimes think their sentences are too long.

The fact you think a sentence is too long has no baring on whether you think something is a serious crime. There are American kids who get life age 17 or 18 for gang shootings. I think murder is a horrific crime but I still think the sentences are too long.

I think what AJ did was an abuse of power and unlike some on here, I fully believe he deserved to be prosecuted and sentenced. But no one will convince me 6 years was proportionate.

Exactly mate but any decent person doesn't ever sympathise with a length of a prison sentence says Mr Sanctimonious from Horden. Nelson Mandela would never have got out of jail if he had his way.

I will never feel sorry for the harshness of anyones sentence. Here is an idea for you, want to be treated fairly and proportionately? Then dont break the f***ing law. Dont groom a child and expect to get off lightly.

Another hollier than thou poster. Who is expecting to get off lightly? Who is feeling sorry for someone? If your son broke the law for shoplifting or drug possession would you be happy with a 6 year sentence thought not?

I would be happy with the sentence that a Judge deemed appropriate. Silly fucker would learn not to break the law. Should i be devastated and act like Adam Johnsons sister like? The bloke was convicted on a crime he pleaded guilty to, the judge (subsequently others after appeal) deemed the sentence appropriate. If he isnt happy with the length perhaps he shouldnt have groomed a kid.

Why arent you questioning why as a society we allow these people to get away with lesser sentences? They should all be of AJs length or more.

Beg to differ mate, I honestly can't sympathise with any sentence for committing a crime serious enough to get a prison sentence, because can't get it round my head round, why somebody could commit a crime that serious.

Maybe it's just the way I have been brought up to believe in right and wrong and not sanctimonious in the least.

I know what is right and wrong too. So you are saying no-one should ever be able to appeal a sentence? What about miscarriages of justice are you prepared to let them just happen?

HOW CAN IT BE A MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE WHEN HE PLEADED f***ing GUILTY

There's nothing wrong with the way Johnson's sister has acted. She is supporting her family. There's plenty evidence to show why it was a lengthy sentence. No-one is saying he shouldn't be punished. As for increasing everyone's jail sentences that really gonna help society isn't it. You obviously don't believe in forgiveness and rehabilitation.

I'm not on about his case you thick fool. You're obsesssed with the Johnson case.

Hang on. What about executions for homosexuality or the like? Or do you only mean the UK?
What about people who get custody for possession of drugs for personal use? What about domestic violence victims who flip and kill their partner and get done for manslaughter? Etc etc.

You never have ANY sympathy for the harshness of ANYONE'S sentence? Even if someone was hung, drawn and quartered for speeding? Weird.

When did I say I want us to live in a society without no appeals system or justice system, must have missed that

My point is simple if a burglar gets 10 years I can't sympathise with that, because he should have done the crime in the first place.

If a shoplifter gets 5 years no sympathy as same principle.

If someone (anyone) gets 6 years for knowing going with 15 year old no sympathy as should not have done the crime in the first place.

Of course I am for justice and appeal system if proven did not do crime, which is totally different from length of sentence for a crime committed.
