Academy players - Europa league

me is back

Midfield
Ok so the squad has space for 4 who spent 3 years at your club between ages 15-21.

Who would fit that bill at the club or not? Could this mean new contracts for e.g. Neil?

Neil
Patto
Mayenda I think counts?
Cirkin? Not sure
Rigg (but may not take a slot due to age)

mayenda dont count due to his loan. probably just fill a squad of 21 (with a couple left out) and leave 4 spots with rigg and a few academy players in b list. neil would count but he wont get a new contract / sign one for a couple games he wont even play unless we have a major injury crisis.

Saliba counts for Arsenal as homegrown in the PL and UEFA competitions.

He signed when he was 18 and was on loan for 3 seasons in France until he was 21. He turned 21 before the end of 3 full seasons just like Mayenda has for us. He was March whereas Mayenda May.

Hjelde signed for Leeds when he was 18. Spent 3 full calendar years in England before he turned 21 but not quite 3 full seasons. Yet doesn't count as homegrown.

They seem to make it up as they go along. So answers on a post card which way they will rule on Mayenda.

Interesting that loans kill it. That rule could have undesired consequences for players career progress if clubs don’t let them go on loan to tick a UEFA box

Edit: maybe they don’t then based on the Saliba post…
