Abdul Fatawu - continuing news

I get that you can't just keep stockpiling players though

Adingra, Traore, Talbi, Mundle are our genuine wingers.

Traore was a bit of a stop gap although I like him and has done well but is now injured for 4-6 weeks

Questions over Mundle, I don’t think he’s good enough and might be moved on

Adingra has hardly set the world alight. If theres better available then go for it and he could be a canny sub.

Know what you mean but we need a big squad and if lads don’t look up to it then others can take their place. I think we are crying out for direct players

Really hope we get both of the lads linked

We are keeping mundle I think, mind adingra needs to be more consistent as well

If we sign 2 more decent attacking players then we can finish in the Top 5. If we sign one quality attacking midfielder/winger then I think we’ll still have a good chance of Europe. Whatever happens it will have been a good season, I just think this year is a chance to capitalise with us being so close to the Top 5.

Not sure about that - Think he's play all 26 games this season for Leicester and scored 5 and assisted 7 so far. Basically a goal contribution every other game.

Isn't he a left footed right winger, a la Traore?

Will just slot in with him and challenge, no?

I don't think Ba has a future here. Will be gone permanently either this window or summer.
I’m basing it purely on one post that says: “In our last Championship season he created 32 big chances in 33 starts. In this season he's at 7 in 26.“

I’m talking about the Ba we’re just about to sign.

Traore is potentially a stop gap, at 30 and on a 1 year contract. Mundle could potentially leave, which would leave us with:

Talbi, Adingra, Ta Bi & Fatawu - this is a lot of hypothetical variables - but if we are in for both of them.
I could see us shifting on Adingra. He's got a long way to go to make it in the prem. Not sure Le Bris rates him aswell

He won't leave this year. We paid over £20m for him and can't see anyone paying that for him at the minute.

I still think he's a good option as a "finisher" to come on against tired legs.

I can never understand the "... but not at that price ..." type of comment.

Players are either good and would improve the squad, or they are not and would not improve the squad. The price is immaterial to their ability level and as we, the supporters, aren't 'footing the bill' anyway and really have no influence over the situation.

I've never played Football Manager, but imagine that involves developing a squad of players within a prescribed budget, so perhaps this is where this mode of thinking comes from.

In reality, the question for clubs must be - 'Would the addition of this player result in improved results which would thereby secure and/or improve our League position and prize money ?'

Well, they wanted around 40m + for the lad in the summer and no one paid it, so quite clearly the fee isn't immaterial at all. Its wether the club feel he's worth it or not and considering we've just signed another 20yr old right winger for less than 4m, that suggests they think they've found better value elsewhere in the market.

If he was 20m I'm sure the club would have looked at him, but up to now, he's just been a good championship player, but if you're looking at that level, then Jack Clarke is putting up better numbers, do you see him as a 30/40m player??

Fatawu would be a great signing. The fee is very steep mind, but he's rapid and offers a goal threat which we're lacking a bit.
Ta Bi seems like one for the future who may go on loan for a year, whereas Fatawu would make an instant impact.

It’s a weird one though because he has already made it in the prem before we signed him, we paid mega money for him considering he only had 1 year left on his deal, he’s got to come good man it’s only been half a season, players go through patches.

Apparently there's an option to extend. BBC site.

Sunderland have confirmed the signing of Bertrand Traore from Ajax
. The Burkina Faso international has signed a one-year contract at Stadium of Light, with the option of a further year.
