Can you not understand?
The wages that we pay those two, if freed up, could fund 1 good player who would help us.
There's no endless pot of money, we have to limit waste as much as possible.

So literally loan him to a L2 club for an amount that an L2 club can afford. No reason for us to pay him to sit doing nothing, no reason for him to destroy the rest of his career either.
Playing at any level is better than not playing at all.
Its insane.

Whilst I get the point, he was on 60k and we were near the bottom of the championship. And was not arsed about playing for us

They are on way way way less than that, and they’d absolutely play if fit. They’re just not good enough

Agree absolute nonsense shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as Rodwell imo.

Obviously nowhere near the level required for us now but he did a job in the Championship and could never be said he didn’t try.

We’ve simply outgrown his level it’s as simple as that but given he’ll be on absolute peanuts compared to Rodwell he certainly isn’t stealing a living.

Both Ba and Poveda have skill, that is clear. One doesn't know how to use it and has got lost by the wayside, the other can't be bothered. Both a shame in their own tragic way, but I bet they aren't the only ones who have wasted their career by not applying themselves properly. They just wear a read and white shirt so we expect them to pledge their souls to the cause.

Plenty have and weren't talented enough and we gave them hell anyway.
 
I totally get why people are frustrated that these lads are happy to just pick up a wage knowing they'll not be able to play competitive football. Given that would be a dream for most of us. Difficult to understand why as an earlier poster has said send them of loan to at least recoup some of their wages for whatever a club can pay.

Surely Sheff Wed would be interested in taking Poveda back? Couldn't pay much but owt is better than nowt and the lad gets to put himself in the shop window. Scottish Premier League would be a good shop window for these lads. Do well for an Aberdeen or Dundee Utd and you're on the Old Firm radar.

Maybe these lads have just resigned themselves to not being good enough? Or maybe they've tumbled the Nirvana that is living in the North East and can't contemplate leaving the place. :lol:
 
In fairness when selected both definitely tried hard. Briefly we seemed to rate Poveda as he got a few appearances where he looked desperate to impress, probably too desperate and Ba always looked to have talent. Hasn’t worked out for either which is a shame for them and for us.

Well which is it, a lack of interest or the players refusing to budge? Hardly "stealing a living" if there's a lack of interest in players who signed contracts with us in good faith.
 
I don't blame them for hanging on, their next job will pay less. Also there needs to be someone that wants them. As far as I;m aware they aren't refusing to leave.

And would be in their rights to if they were. They must be fulfilling their contractual obligations or we’d have engineered a way to move them on.
 
Ruined by Mowbray trying to turn him into an attacker. He showed a lot of promise as a box-to-box DM.

Can see why he tried, players always said him and Paddy were the two most naturally skilful players at the club. If he’d stuck at CDM those skills would be impressive and allow him to break forward really well with less risk. Always thought he might make a decent RWB too.
