I believe so yes
Eh? Why? there's absolutely no need. They should be sorting that bst'd roundabout at the A1 instead - that's a right dogs dinner. Every other junction on the roundabout is controlled by lights, except A183 and Picktree lane. Can sit for ages (behind other people) constantly giving way to the endless traffic from the right. Traffic can back up past the farm on the bank and up to the pink houses.

Another entrance into the new housing estate I reckon.
It looked like they were going to knock down the wall into Lambton's land, and make an entrance there opposite the pink houses.
So a new roundabout would be the order of the day.
I hear what you're saying about the roundabout down at the A1M mind. f***ing nightmare going to Chester from Shiney on a tea-time.

I can't understand why they didn't put lights on the A183 junction to that roundabout. Fair enough Picktree Lane as it isn't that busy, but the A183 is a major road and it soon backs up at busy times.

A slip to get onto the a1 turn off would be a massive improvement as well. The traffic that moves to the left lane predominantly goes straight over towards Chester so it can be frustrating queuing up to get off to the slip.

Turning right at Chester onto the a1 is a nightmare too. Only right lane till after the a693 then all the way across the lanes for the a1. The amount of times I've been cut up because people can't read the road signs and markings is unbelievable.

The big Shiney Row roundabout is the same. It clearly states stay in the left hand lane for the A183 (towards Sunderland) or the right hand lane for the A182 (towards Herrington Burn/Philadelphia). Loads of people go in the right hand lane and then cut across into the A183 lane just before the exit.

It’s more than likely to discourage people from using the roundabout and try and channel people coming from Shiney or worse still the A19 down Washington highway and onto the A1 via jct 64 which is what it was built for. Picktree Lane and less so the A183 are essentially tracks that have become roads and can’t ever be anything else because of what’s beside them.

A1 users should be using jct 64 unless local which most I bet aren’t

Bollocks. Nice little road through to the a1m at times, and the garage takes me fuel card.

This is my point!! Used as a rat run :evil:;);)

I just thought that wall kept falling down.

It's carnage at times on a morning as well, especially when knackers get in the wrong lane and can't get across for the A1M North

Yep have that almost daily too. In fairness at shiney it doesn't tell you till your actually on the roundabout. Both just shit designs. Feel sorry for kids doing there tests these days as no two roundabouts are the same.

I do this heading south, (J64) but J63 for North

I am - but agree, so if everyone else could naff off that would be extremely helpful

It can be quite entertaining to be fair - exactly what I was on about - heading North

I go straight over the A19 on either the A1231 roundabout, the A183 one or the A690 one depending on my call route. They all have different lane approaches and I find myself hesitating and thinking "which one am I on now?!"

I tend to mainly go that way in my works van. My company has a hard on about rtcs and I genuinely have started having anxiety at that roundabout. Doesn't help being in a van and fuckers coming out of your blind spot and cutting across the front of you to go for the picktree turn off. Mind if someone hits me in my works van they'll have to cut me out of the fucker

I'll bear that in mind in future - the amount of vans that get in the way
