What makes you contribute to this board? I mean, we are Sunderland not Real Madrid.

I can understand Newcastle and maybe Boro fans getting on here, but there’s loads of other teams represented with posters who frequently contribute (Swindon, Wolves, Sheff Wed, West Brom, Villa to name but a few).

No issues about it whatsoever but just genuinely interested in what brings you here. It does create some diversity although I’ve now got a random interest in bloody Swindon because of it 😂

I've worked with a few Sunderland fans over the years, always good lads. Also been to a few games at SOL to watch my team (man city) and witnessed in 2 consecutive seasons a man casually walk across the pitch from the stand opposite the dug outs without being challenged or chased, simply got collected by stewards at the other side! I just couldn't get my head round it and still can't, a pretty unique experience but in keeping with the club, very down to earth. Up until 2008 there were a lot of parallels with our clubs, hope your time comes soon.

Also the bonus of seeing you take the piss out of utd!

As most may already know.
I first posted on this message board when Di Canio decided he wanted out of Swindon and came to Sunderland. At the time genuinely gutted but felt compelled to give you a real insight into what you were getting.

The NE also happens to be my favourite footballing region, mainly because of the people like myself are not wired up properly and have a real passion (that being the optimum word) when Supporting their respective clubs. I have always enjoyed visiting the Region, people are excellent and love the history, the togetherness and the pride. Notwithstanding I have spent many weekends both as a single lad and married man drinking and going out in the NE.

I could never imagine staying on this board as long as I have, absolutely love the place and an honest confession I only post on this board apart from the Swindon boards. Even then probably 90% of time on here.
I guess you have become “friends” and will always gain respect from me. No brown nosing but I always try and behave accordingly as the uninvited guest.

Unfortunately and equally it brings out the worst in me as I know most don’t want to hear who Swindon have in the FA Cup, or where our journey takes us this Saturday. This is where though I belong as you proclaim, quite righty and often that “you are the best fans in the Country” and I am very much in this loyalty camp. My close friends and people know I have a rather obsessive nature regarding the mighty Swindon.
The board itself has everything, miserable bastards, kindness of the highest nature but above all people that are simply going through everyday life facing the same challenges and difficulties. That alone is worth sharing and if it helps others then it can only be a good thing.
It’s been emotional, the legacy of Maximus and Foggy to name two that I felt were “one of our own” as the football saying goes.

So there you have it, tomorrow just another day and a long train trip to Barrow awaits (better not get postponed).
Some absolute cracking other clubs posters that post on here and if behave are always made welcome. That makes it the special place it is.

@KEV_SAFC_FTM - fair play to you :)

The cricket Forum mainly. Some interesting general football stuff on here as well. No other forum I've come across has such detailed and active match threads for neutral games for example
Some hilarious crack as well. Very true to what the NE is like as well having visited a few times. Decent folk with a good sense of humour. A few oddballs and wankers but same everywhere

I really enjoy football forums, and especially reading our rivals thoughts on the current division we happen to be in at the time. I choose to become a member on here because it's without doubt the best one amongst any league one club.

I've been warmly welcomed by the majority, and I find it much more tolerant than Owlstalk, which is good for me because I can be quite opinionated!! Unfortunately the owner of that site seems more interested in baiting fellow owls if they have a difference of opinion to his and I find it incredibly childish.

i also have to admit I now find myself rooting for Sunderland, unless it's at our expense!! I genuinely hope you lot get promoted.

That doesn't sound like our fair county at all... ;)

Swindon on Tour is far and away the best poster on here from a non Sunderland fan. His posts are excellent.

A club the size of yours in the same division as The Imps is still quite unfathomable to me tbh, especially when you consider last season's Play-offs semi final ..... but mainly because the subjects discussed are pretty varied, which makes a pleasant change.

Always had a lot of respect for Sunderland fans since my experience at Roker Park in 1976. Met Sunderland fans all over and found them to be the friendliest, most knowledgeable and fair minded fans I've ever met. Numerous trips to Roker Park and SOL including several overnight stays have been some of the best away days I've done. I just love the passion for football in the North East. I look in on this forum several days a week and can always find threads that are interesting and informative not only about all things Sunderland but about general football talk and North East life and history. So many other forums have too many threads full of anger and vitriol against their own club and their rivals, glorifying hooliganism past and present, and full of posts where no-ne can write a sentence without using the F or C word. As I said in a previous post the Spurs thread from early last year is the funniest I've ever read on any forum. Good luck for the rest of the season. If we continue our good run it won't be long before some of you will be thinking of Wembleys past !
