Its awful, and it is hard not to get annoyed. A seemingly good natured family man dies while a feral rat gets to live. It doesn't seem fair. That being said, the prefrontal cortex, which controls abstract thinking, decision-making, and impulse control isn't fully developed at their age. That is why we do not charge minors as adults and we focus on rehabilitation, as difficult as it is to swallow at times.

I understand that fully and I do understand the judge can only sentence following guidelines.
It still doesn’t sit well with me though.

We all appreciate that there are guidelines and the judiciary have to stick to them but he could easily have given the maximum to both, "to enhance their rehabilitation".

In truth if your gonna batter an old fella to death at that age I'm guessing rehabilitation will have very little hope and I guess we all know chances are when he comes out he's gonna be an even bigger twat than he is now and may even pick up a few more strings to his bow while he's away

Such is the court system atm, pointless worrying about it, because if those that run the country and judiciary dont see that the guidelines and punishments don't match the crimes let em get on with it, while feral arseholes do what they like... just make sure you don't live in the areas they roam free

I think you're entirely wrong, the parents will move away, the kids will go with them and the problem has moved. No one in their right mind will go seeking retribution, the people will not have their own justice or they'd end up banged up for far longer than this pair of scrotes.

You're living in a fantasy world if you think that it would happen.

agreed the poor old fella family will serve a life sentence..

All I'm saying is, sometimes some families who suffer such horrific circumstances will be made accountable by the law of the land.. not the law of the pathetic Jurisdiction.
