But the atmosphere is only going to get worse due to the weather - which was some of the so called experts point.

Some think just cos its cloudy it means the ball will always swing. The Rose Bowl in Southampton plays exactly the opposite.

According to the boffins, steady cloud cover and low wind, make for ideal swinging conditions:

The next few days will see sunshine and showers and the wind will get up.

Add a new, bouncy pitch to the equation and yesterday was absolutely perfect bowling conditions for Broad and Anderson.

You are right though, reading atmospherics is difficult and not as clearcut as the pundits are suggesting.

Jordan was unlucky, good shot and superb catch by Aaron.

Looks like we are trying to force the tempo and will concede a few 'cheap' wickets as a result.

Tomorrow is going to be a good day for batting. Is the plan to knock a fast 300 and have a session at India in the low light today?

f***ing typical England under Cook, take the foot off the gas when you had control of the game. Could see us being all out for 190-200.

There's been pretty low cloud and it's been warm all week in Manchester, it was always going to be hooping around yesterday. Outfield was damp, wicket would have been under covers a lot this week, conditions were perfect for bowling first. You've got to worry about conditions at the time not what's going to happen in the next few days. Forecast now says it's going to be nice tomorrow whereas yesterday it was crap.

Boycott saying this pitch is superb and all test grounds should be looking to have similar pitches.

If you win the toss and its sunny, with clear blue skies, you bat. If you win the toss and its cloudy and muggy, you pause for a moment, then you still bat.

Foot off the gas? India have bowled well.

But for some ordinary bowling by Woakes yesterday we would have had them out for under 100.

Jordan and Cook got themselves out. (Ali just had a go)

Kumar and Aaron bowled well I agree.

Being hyper-critical perhaps but could you imagine Steve Waugh's side letting a team back into the game from 63/6?

Just a quick reminder

I'm off to OT tomorrow (review of the various test grounds will of course follow)

As you know, no matter how drunk I am and no matter where I am sat, I will know better than you all as I am there
Look forward to reviews....remember to included beer quality as well as price. It is often overlooked, chunky.
