46,000 and all paid tickets. Last time we had gates like this in the Premier many were freebies (college's, schools and the likes). Just proves how impressive this gate actually is.

The freebies is overplayed, but we did give away a lot of cheap tickets which in the end devalued the experience. Thankfully we are now heading back in the right direction, and tbf, Bain deserves some credit for beginning the process of correcting our awful ticketing policy

The club should email match day to get a mention for the record breaking home crowd and the 7500 away following new yr day

It was good but has been a lot better

So what man? Must there be a negative about everything?

Just let it lie, the atmosphere was very good imo. Has it been better, yes. Big deal.

The mag rage is more impressive than the attendance. They’re f***ing devastated at how many were there.

I’ve even seen a mag suggest Rafa set the team up badly on purpose cos he has a special place in his heart for Liverpool
They used to enjoy their 4-3 beatings at Liverpool.

With Rafa the master tactician I don't think they get the ball out of their half 3 times in a game never mind score.

I divent understand.

Just imagine if WE had given freebies away yesterday, there would of been over 52,000 screaming Mackems there;)

Sorry & thank you for the correction, Sunderland AFC. I hope we don't end up in the play offs because I don't fancy our chances there. Luton are going like an express train now and Charlton are a class act at this level. We can't have any more games like today where Gillingham had three attempts at goal and score 2 while we had 20 attempts and missed them all including 4 'sitters'.
It's a horrible place to be as we demonstrated so well in 1998, only the second time I've ever shed a tear over Sunderland. Why not enjoy a trip to the SOL at the end of April; it could well be a massive game and fans of proper clubs like Pompy and Bradford yesterday, are always made to feel welcome.

Lower than regular attendance for the best supported supported teams in England. Who have never played in Third Division so comparisons invidious. 46,000 in Third Division is still Third Division. And beaten by Sheff Wed & Villa.
Are these actual sentences?

There was 37,000 there the season they beat us and we got relegated.
Mind about 15000 Mackems.
They redeveloped the ground after our relegation, all seater regs.

You get games like that during the season though. We had a first half like it last Saturday. ;)
Hope your results pick back up soon mate but only after we leap frog you at the top!

Yes, he meant to say

Numbers being made up in First Division (he obviously doesn't like modern names for leagues). Compete with Fulham, Cardiff, Burnley for relegation but bore more. Fans have interest lost but at least not Third Division even though poor to watch and another rubbish season.
