I agree on livingstone, we need to forget ability (no one has any anyway) and pick on personality and he’s about the strongest we have. Stoneman would be in a similar bracket.
I know it's a completely different game but Livingstone's confidence must be sky high right now, as you say he's proved he's got the attitude and mentality for international cricket and I think his first class record is quite good over the last couple of years too. Then again, I thought the same about Roy (though I wouldn't have opened with him)

Regular readers will know I’m not Malan’s biggest fan but I really like his inclusion in this squad. He seems to be a much stronger minded cricketer than the likes of Crawley and Sibley and I expect he’ll fight hard for his wicket.

Burns should’ve been dropped too, he’s a walking wicket at present - but perhaps they just didn’t have any confidence in anyone else.

Bowling still looks absolutely toothless. You just know the only way they leave Curran out is by putting Overton in. Which is completely underwhelming.

They may also have to leave Wood out if he’s unfit. They can’t really risk him getting injured

^This.

I can't get over how all of their seamers look fast, aggressive and accurate whilst ours, with one notable exception, look like the radar's completely gone and they then resort to floaty half-volleys or wayward, wasteful short-pitched stuff.

Has everyone forgotten what Malan was like last time he played test cricket in England?

He couldn't handle the moving ball. Constantly getting squared up and offering regulation edges to the keeper or first slip.

Stats: 13 innings, high score 65, average 20.25. Sibley has a better record.

I'm all for taking him to Australia but I can't see him achieving anything in this series.

Anderson, Robinson and Wood have bowled well. The bowlers aren’t the issue, well maybe the 4th seamer spot.

This Indian attack is brilliant but they are bowling to one of the worst batting line ups in test cricket at the moment

The main issue with the bowling was Root's strategy of placing fielders on the boundary for tail enders while chances flew through the vacant slips!

I still think the bowling is part of the overall problem.

We're at home, bowling in conditions that are supposed to suit us, yet our bowling looks laboured and short of ideas. Their top order have looked composed and in control while batting in conditions that are supposed to be hard for them.

I have to agree about our batting being awful plus @smoker 's point about the field placings is spot on.

The whole team looks like it's suffering from a general malaise and somehow needs to be shaken up.
