Great effort lads. From what I saw, Butsy was excellent and the opening partnership looked good with Tom and John were starting a handy partnership.

The old saying catches win matches ring true for both the seconds and thirds this week.

again great effort, first time over 200 isn't it.

I believe so.

Mind, they also grassed a few catches as well. Think Pete was dropped 3 times alone.

Lost by 9 runs.

They batted first and made 211 all out, we made 202/9 off our 45 overs.

Batting figures:

Scott - 21
Paul M - 15
Liam H - 0
Tom - 23
John - 53
Pete - 34
Jack - 0
Rob - 24
Craig - 0
Stew - 2*
Busty - 2*

Bowling:

Rob: 9-2-29-1
Scott: 9-1-50-1
Craig: 9-0-39-2
Butsy: 9-3-23-3
John: 7-1-48-1
Liam: 1-0-17-0
Tom: 0.1-0-0-1

Liam, Beefy and John were unlucky to be bowling as 2 were starting to hit it around the park a bit.

Very very good game of cricket.

Maximum bonus points, so we start the season with 10.

Unlucky lads. Sounds like a good game and good to see lots of contributions with bat and ball.

we batted first on what you could only describe as a feild with a square cut out, not rolled and a crease that was only painted 5mins before the start and not very straight:lol:. we got 86 they knocked them off with 4 wickets remaining although we dropped a good few catches

a great game to be involved in but to be honest i'm very disappointed that we never won. everyone contributed well especially butsy and john. the pitch offered nothing for the bowlers, but it was equal for both teams and washington to their credit edged it...like what was said earlier it was our top score so far. so lets carry it on next week lads, chin or chins up lads great stuff

nightmare mate. it was like a juggling convention at our match today(both sides like):lol:

Brilliant brilliant game played in the right way by both teams. A couple of star performances as mentioned by Rob but it was also a real team performance.

Gutted that we lost but still on a high from the game.

EDIT

This taxi driver is loving the blow by blow account of my wicket like.

Tom how did the wicket compare to Saturday's??

Think Houghton 2nds and 3rds need some catching practice!!

It was like ruddy lords today compared to yesterday.

great effort and a very good game of cricket. Well played everyone.

If it's not bad enough the umpire robbed me of 4 runs from the first ball, the score book has robbed Dumpling and I of a wicket! it was the young'un who made 51 if you want to correct the score book ;) and I bowled a lad leg stump.

From what I seen today Scott and Paul started us of well, and looks to be a good way forward. Tom and Pete were excellent but he'll need a new handle and splice in that county bat (too much oil on a bat ain't great.

Personally I think all the bowlers bowled well. I always enjoy a mis-hit for 6 against my bowling and the batsman saying sorry with a cheeky smile on his face...

well done boys

Thanks for the hospitality lads.
Had a great day today. Tea was good ( sack the fella who forgot the milk)
very good game with two genuine 3rd teams. both teams put a few catches down, I thought at one point you were going to get our total when john was knocking us about.
the banter in the field was spot on.
good luck for the rest of the season

i'm only human, i'm not a machine:lol:

Absolutely devastated we lost like. Feel a tad of responsibility for giving away my wicket trying to slog, when I didn't need to as Rob was scoring runs at the other end, just got frustrated that regardless of what I was hitting I just couldn't get off the mark.

Also had the umpire given the young lad out for LBW which was an obvious LBW we would have won the game.

It's all good experience tho mate. Learn from it mate and be patient. Well done for getting close to what was a big total. Bodes well for the rest of the season.

Ha I don't think anything will compare to that! Two or three popped up big time yesterday but by and large it was a good pitch.

To be fair. You showed in the game Vs the 2nds that you have no idea about the LBW law:evil::evil:

Not that i'm bitter

Yer were out plum in fairness to me. Hit your back leg, and was hitting middle and leg.

There's my proof. It hit my front pad actually.;)

It didn't like, definitely your back pad. First shout hit your front pad, but your front leg always goes forward, eliminating LBW shouts, the one that i gave you out to hit your back pad, in line - and the umpire's always right.
