3rd ODI - 1pm start

Root taking 2 wickets was the worst thing that could have happened. Gave him about another 5 overs more than he should have got and led to some muddled thinking with the bowling imho.

Morgan rarely gets it wrong and is probably the best white ball captain in the world but he got it wrong yesterday.

Disagree. He should have bowled Root out imo he looked far more threatening than Rashid. Or Morgan shouldn't have bowled Rashid as much, when Maxwell was in it was pretty much guaranteed at least a 6 an over

Not sure why he didn't try Rashid at the other end. I can't imagine Maxwell nudging it around to the spinner so at least make him hit it straight or to the long boundary.

Agree, looked like we were hoping Maxwell would mistime one but he didn't and in the end made it easy for him

Felt like Morgan was far more interested in testing particular players than trying to win the game.

Rashid was a total throw. The reason why perfectly competent hitters like Cummins and Starc have pretty ordinary records batting in limited overs is because they come in at the death and have to face death overs bowling trying to hit out. It's hard enough for proper batsmen, let alone bowlers who have just come in to bat.

Still can’t get over that Rashid decision
Rare Morgan has got it badly wrong over these last few years but that was a very poor decision. Rashid is a fantastic bowler but certainly not for the last over of a game with 2 tailenders in and basically requiring 1 six to win. If you asked Starc or Cummins who they wanted to face to get them runs then it would be Rashid. Probably highest chance of a wicket but also most chance of getting belted back over your head for 6.
