He played 10 of 11 games in the World Cup, pretty much bowled every 4th day for 6 weeks - 10 overs a day. He only bowled 25 overs in the first match and they were bowled over a week before the start of the next. It's not resting Wood, they obviously think he can't play two tests in a row when there's a week in between. I think we just have to accept that's the way his career is going to be, he's 32 in January, his body isn't suddenly going to become indestructible. As @Jack Torrance says he rarely even plays one day games back to back.
Never agreed with you more mate.I’m genuinely fuming
Rest him for what?!?!
The series could be over
Our best bowler from the first test bowling 95mph who gets out their best batsman with his pace
We have decided before the series who plays what games
It’s embarassing
You play your best team when the series is alive
Not for an imaginary scenario that will never happen
Silverwood is a fuckin idiot

David Steele? The reason is obvious mate, the lack of other credible options.
He many times did he bowl in the T20 world cup?He played 10 of 11 games in the World Cup, pretty much bowled every 4th day for 6 weeks - 10 overs a day. He only bowled 25 overs in the first match and they were bowled over a week before the start of the next.
Not much difference in workloads there, and there's 5 days (at least) break between Adelaide and Melbourne.
Manage his workload - fine - but you can't wrap him in cotton wool and save him for scenarios that might never happen. 15 overs a day from Woody could be the match winner.
I can kind of understanding resting Wood. We desperately need him at Melbourne - the last thing we can afford is to risk him tonight and he breaks down and is out for the series. There have been challenges this year for sure but they’ve got it all wrong all year
They always thinking too far ahead
The wood thing makes no sense but they view him in their best XI
We are 1-0 down you HAVE to pick your best XI. The pink ball test are flat for the majority of the game
It’s crackers man. It’s like the pink ball test in India. They decided before the series to pick 3 spinner n 1 seamer
Got to the test and the pitch was an absolute beach yet they had decided before the series ti pick 3 seamers so stuck with it
Root ended up being our best bowler
The leadership just isn’t up to it. They get every major decision wrong
Agree with this 100% mind. Silverwood has been even worse in Tests than BaylissYeah the current leadership team just isn't working, it's all a bit too safe and pre-planned - I suppose the only likely next captains are Stokes or Butler unless there is some Eoin Morgan type out there in county cricket.
It's the one that, on paper, you'd fancy would serve us well - but we've put all of our eggs into the d/n basket despite our record being shocking. There seems to be this expectation from many that the pink ball/ night test will help level things up. We've lost our last three away from home with the pink ball, and Aus are 8/8 at home with it.
That's the thing about England (and the media) there's always all this focus on the bowling side - who should/ shouldn't play - but it doesn't matter who's chucking it down if you've jsut been bowled out for less than 200.It's the one that, on paper, you'd fancy would serve us well - but we've put all of our eggs into the d/n basket despite our record being shocking.
Yes, you'd hope that in the evening our bowlers will be able to get more movement - but the downside is that our batting is shit, and what is overlooked is that while our bowlers may get more movement, so will theirs.
Burns, Hameed, Malan v Cummings and Stark with the lights on and a pink ball.![]()
I'd put Burns at 7.........Seat 7 on a flight back to the UK.I still maintain Root should open,
We have to get a start at some point and bat ourselves into a strong position,
He's been coming in at times while the balls still hard, the bowlers have just got into their stride
Whats the bloody difference?
Maybe burns would bat better at 3 or 4, less pressure, especially if we have had a start
Well his head would be on seat 7 mate....his ar*e on seat 5..and his legs on the bloody opposite aisle..Never seen a stance like it tbhI'd put Burns at 7.........Seat 7 on a flight back to the UK.
Indeed. We've just been bowled out for less than 150 and bowled well but all the talk has been about the bowling attack, even on hereThat's the thing about England (and the media) there's always all this focus on the bowling side - who should/ shouldn't play - but it doesn't matter who's chucking it down if you've jsut been bowled out for less than 200.
