2ND ASHES TEST: LORDS

Go at 7 an over after lunch, declare 230 ahead and give them 50-odd overs to get them?
7 an over is far fetched but I think to win we have to declare at 230.

Securing a draw and building for the win isn’t possible anymore. We either take a draw now or declare and accept one or other team wins.

How many overs left

Not with Stokes and Buttler at the crease. With Bairstow and Woakes in reserve we can afford to gamble and get after their bowlers

Thought this was a result’s pitch yesterday but seems like wicket has softened a fair bit. Can’t see them skittling us now but also can’t see us getting them in less than a day
I agree a wining result seems unlikely, but if we take a few early wicketd they will be nervy in the Aussie dressing room. Plus Archer's aggressive spell yesterday will definitely play on their minds for the upcoming tests.

I'm still on edge about this. We are more than capable of getting skittled for another 50 and if the target is less than 250 they'll treat it as an ODI and are more than capable of rattling them up in 40 overs

Sibley out for 0 for Warwickshire. Moeen with 42 for Worcestershire.
Modern to open in the next test then

They can "treat it like a ODI" if they like but it's not as simple as that. Anything over 220 and it's a win for us or a draw

Exactly, we're in a position to go into ODI mode for a while, take the target away from them and then have a go. Send a message to them by going for the win rather than settling for the draw.
