The booing when he came back out was poor, bad sportsmanship and shameful. This is cricket, there could easily have been a tragedy and Smith showed a lot of steel in carrying on. Some need to learn that you give people credit for good things and clapping the opposition when they do good things is proper cricket.
He should never ever have been allowed to walk back out, after that head injury (even the ACA, his own trade union, are calling it an injury). A footballer would be removed immediately if there was any question and not return, and in that sport nobody has died from a concussion.

Can still win this. No Smith. 88 overs left in the game. Bat properly for a while then accelerate, set them 220 off 50 and have a good go with them starting 0-1

Ha'way lads, dig in for the first hour then open the shoulders. An hour of Stokes and Buttler swinging could change this day dramatically

(so obvs we will be 150 all out at lunch 🤣)

If it's true that he's out of the game and if it is because of concussion, they'll be allowed a substitute batsman. Obviously that's a much less daunting prospect for us, but it's still 10 wickets we need to take.

Now that's a different question and a good one.

If true, I hope the moral guardians of the Australian Cricketers Association condemn the win at all costs mentality of sending him out there
Think it was probably more the lad himself, but aye, should have been told.

Should be told re: the back bit of the helmets anarl. Compulsory.

Big Big chance for us here today and the next test if Smith IS out

Of course the aussies will cry their eyes out and tells we "only won because Smith was missing" at which point we can remind them that the best seam bowler in the history of cricket was injured after 30 mins of the 1st test

Smith been withdrawn from the match. Woke with a headache and his condition in concussion tests today has deteriorated from those he took yesterday.

Official release from Cricket Australia.

Thought this might happen.
