They can, although that is admitting he has a concussion which would mean he would not be available for selection for 7 days minimum, therefore missing the next game (I think).

See my edited post mate I messed it up, he can return when a wicket has fallen. If not I think it’s a retirement I’ve been on the drink since 5 am so bare with me.
Given the concussion protocols now, they wouldn’t dare to wing it surely? He’s either concussed or he ain’t
