2026 T20

Feels like there is just too much 20/20 / 100 cricket these days. Have the same players playing for the same franchises in different countries over the year. I like watching it at times, but now just too often thats all you see and its just very samey

It’s shite aye

I’ve enjoyed Durham this year mind as we have had a very good campaign with a clear plan

Franchise cricket is awful. The same players playing for different teams, sometimes as teammates with other players, sometimes as opponents. It's proper exhibition stuff.

I agree and don't watch it or have any interest in the result. I know that cricket is different to footie but just imagine what would happen if they setup a regional football tournament with a North East team covering Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough. The stands would be empty as no-one would turn up

I’m sure in the short term that would be true, particularly amongst what they hideously call these days legacy fans. But people quickly get used to a new normal.

Durham didn’t play first class cricket for the first 30 years or so of my life. It didn’t stop me getting into the game. But not did it stop me enthusiastically supporting them as soon as they did. And even the three football clubs you mentioned are already regional to some extent. They have catchment areas that extend beyond the towns. You don’t have to support Seaham if you come from Seaham. And I fear we will increasingly see with the youngsters what we never quite saw when John Hall tried to create it if the Saudis come to dominate NE football too much. They could well come to dominate support from the wider region. It’s hard to see how we can do it but we need to try to hang onto their coat tails.

Not at all clear what you're waffling on about.
Legacy fans are those who support the team that their family support -perfectly appropriate expression What exactly is hideous about the term?
Majority of fans are "legacy" fans.
Perhaps you should learn the wider meaning of the term..

I have no problem with the concept, I dislike the term because of who uses it and how it’s used. It’s the term Bostock and his ilk use to slag off the more long-standing traditional supporters who seem to prefer watching their club in person rather than selling out to TV companies. It’s the term the likes of Manchester City use to slag off people who want to watch them week in, week out for years just like their granddads did, rather than come from Korea once a lifetime to spend a fortune in the club shop.

Words carry their baggage. For me, this term is one that is usually used as a derogatory. You can argue, however much you like, that it shouldn’t be. But it is. That’s why I don’t like it.

Thanks, you've clarified -I think!
You were criticising those who were criticising the legacy fans rather than those fans themselves.
However, those CEOs will have their way,Franchise cricket will rule and eventually bankrupt English cricket.
Last night 's enthralling Q/F illustrated to me how a domestic T20 with correct marketing could attract youngsters at a far less cost and in which they could identify more easily with local players rather than overseas unknown to them.

Well, that was hideous. Mind it’s probably just aswell Hampshire won, cause if they didn’t they’d only demand another go.

Don't agree with the reduction, but i'd rather this was reduced than the CC in terms of number of games.

Always thought there was room for each club to have a double header on a weekend, playing 2 games in 1 day against 2 different teams.

Let's see what the decision is with the other formats, i usually only get a T20 membership, wonder if that'll be a reduced price with fewer games
Wow. Just shows how people don't understand the people.thatbplaybthe game. They want a reduction in T20 as to many games in a short space if time. 2 in 3 days is to much and why the reduction will stop that..

Yet people think they can play 2 in 1 day.
Blimey.

I mean i know you're a bit of a troll at times, but they literally play 2 games on finals day. No reason why each county couldn't host a double header once during the competition.
