I'm thinking about going over for the Xmas test match.

Can anyone with experience of going previously, give any advice on the best way to sort out a package please?

I've looked at a company called Gullivers Travels, but that's as far as I've gone so far.

Thanks.

Never done it mate, but can you not do it independently?

Get a ticket booked up and wait for the BA sale?

Be prepared for it to cost a bomb, the Aussie dollar is bloody strong now.

People like Enigma and Rip van Fish have done loads more tours than me but from experience I'd say go independent. It's loads cheaper and you get to take in the local culture. Instead of doing air conditioned buses etc you travel in with the locals and see what it's all about. The tour groups seem to be full of pensioners from what I've seen.

Perth and Adelaide with their grass banks look like the two best Aussie ones like.

Don't do a package deal - they're a rip off.

Best get your flights booked up early to get a good deal, then in June/July 2013 the tickets will be on sale.

There's no need to panic as there are plenty to go round - 90,000 each day and there are ways and means of getting a hold of some.

Digs are easy to come by too and can be booked from here on the net and save you a packet depending upon your budget.

PM me if you want more info

Just booking my flight to Europe this week  only A$1300 ...cheap as, I thought.

Anyways, just get a return flight.
EVERY time (about 6 Ashes tests) I've just gone down a bought a ticket at the gate. Once (on a first day) I had to buy from a tout but still only just over face value. There aren't any (or I can't find them) touts anymore. Backpacker Hostels are only $25 a night. You could even find a friendly Mackem with a spare room somewhere ;-)

Could be there this week it's half empty for the India tests

i went with the barmy army in 06/07 won't be going down that route again, the test tickets were a rip off.you have got to go independantly
