very happy to see muchall & smith find some form [75 & 55 respectively]

plunkett bowled fanastically and a promising show from young harrison

lets hope this gives us a shot in the arm

smith scored 18 off his first 41 balls and ended up with 55 off 66.

37 off his last 25 balls  maybe i had it wrong about smudge, that is canny

Close run thing in the end but a win is a win. both teams playing reserve selections but young Harrison started brightly. Faded a bit with no balls etc. but a decent showing from him.

muchall continued his good CB40 form from last year.

all in all nice to get the win but I'm not sure how much it will influence the CC.

I'd gladly lose every game in the CB40 and T20 formats if it meant winning the County Championship by even 1 point.

Still very concerned about our season so far. Lack of investment into the LVCC squad is criminal. Would be easy to attract a top quality player such as Shakib Al-Hasan for example for the bulk of the season rather than an over-the-hill Saffer and Aussie who isn't even coming now.

para 1: whilst i agree it doesnt really follow does it? if the players are in good form usually that will carry over, its great to see a few batsman get a decent knock under their belts, that is far more likely to lead to cc wins than losing one day matches.

para 2: im fairly sure that the funding for the t20 players came from our sponsorship deal with emirates and was stipulated to be on hit & hope cricket so no blame attached there, we've chosen to not flash the cash, i'd say thats fair enough, cricket is not football, its not awash with cash and i'd rather we were a- sensible with our money and b- develop local and/or young talent
