1st Ashes Test - Brisbane

Fair point. Wicket in the second innings was abit cheap, but let's be realistic the game was/is well beyond England anyway

Anderson, Swann and Tremlett have been absolutley f***ing woeful like. Swann looks poor compared to Nathan Lyon ffs, and Anderson who has spearheaded the England bowling attack so well for so long looks poor compared to well, everyone. Less said about Tremlett the better.
Was one of those wickets where everything goes against you, desperately unlucky and agreed unless two of our players pull off something world class were praying for unlikely rain.

Warner continues to impress. Some of his offside shots were fantastic! Good knock from Clarke too, just when it looked like we had him sussed. Annoying how Haddin and Johnson continue to get runs mind (how many times did we put the ball in the area he loves!?)

Carberrys wicket was typical of how the flow of the game has gone. Trotts innings was pathetic. Very ill disciplined from him when we simply needed him to occupy the crease![DOUBLEPOST=1385213849][/DOUBLEPOST]

Won't happen but if Pietersen stays for the remainder we will actually win it

It's annoying to watch. This Australian side look to me, how our sides from back in the day (late 80's - 90's) must have looked to the Aussies, with only a small smattering of quality in the form of Clarke and the more unreliable Warner, the rest are a range of steady but unspectacular players like Rogers, occasionally decent but inconsistent middle order batsmen like Smith, I'll include Watson in that, who can go on to get a big score - big if - he can get past twenty, average big hearted triers like Siddle and Harris, Johnson who can be brilliant in flashes but is a couple of wides away from a total breakdown, and the just plain piss poor Nathan Lyon

Flat track bullies.

Theyve thrown this test away the hopeless bastards

This track is flat  and they won in India not long ago on turning decks. Win in England when the ball does plenty. Just had a bad match. It happens.

Also, the Aussie attack is not to be sniffed at.

They never seem to be able to save a test, or very rarely.

They only seem to ever look like a top side when theyve racked up a massive 1st innings

Not sure id fully agree with that mind, but they do like a collapse.

Well they've only scored 400 in eight of the last 48 innings.

Saying all that, we were never as good as some were making out.

You spelled panicking wrong, so can get off your high horse Giles Brandreth.

A couple of changes alone will make no difference, Cook and Flower need to look at our tactics. Doggedly sticking to a 'plan' when it isn't working for one thing, there needs to be more captaincy on the field. We looked devoid of ideas to dislodge Warner and Clarke, whereas Clarke is constantly adapting field placing to create uncertainty in the mind of the batsman. Do they really think our bowling attack is good enough to roll over Australia on a wicket that hasn't been prepared for them?

As for batting, yes I would drop Trott as the Aussies have him figured out. Play an extra opener at 3 like Aus did wth Watto. Root. Or drop Cook down the order. Pity Compton isn't there. Yesterdays man according to you, yet we took the older carberry. The bugger's also need to get in the nets with a bowling machine serving up 90mph on or around midriff. Cook needs to come up with a sticky plaster for his weakness to the angled delivery asap, maybe open up his guard.

Or we could just keep trying the same old predictable, conservative shite...[DOUBLEPOST=1385210944][/DOUBLEPOST]
Pity nee Bresnan to back him up.

No high horses here man.

The 'plan' worked just fine in the 1st innings, 290 on that track was cheap and they were lucky to get that many, it was a woeful batting performance that turned the game. Compton isn't there because he's not good enough, Carberry might or might not be. I doubt it personally, but he might be a good fit short term while Root develops. Sorry like, but dropping the best opening bat in the world down the order is insane.

And I'm pretty sure that they practice in the nets.

Do I think our bowling attack is good enough? Well, as I've already said that Tremlett isn't up to it so I think you know the answer. The other three are world class bowlers so yes, with some support I think they're fine.

Another, predictable, massive over-reaction on this board.

I blame the typical footy fan element.

One test match and clarke is suddenly top dog  His constant changing of the field seems to have disrupted his bowlers more than the batsmen in all previous tests
