1st Ashes Test - Brisbane

I still don't think we've lost this. This pitch is flat as anything. We will not make the same mistakes in the second innings and we got 500-1 in the 2nd innings there last time after a poor (admittedly not that poor) first innings score.

And let's face it, it's not gonna be long til Mitchell Johnson goes back to spraying it all over the shop.

That was bad. I can't see us pulling of another big 2nd innings like we did a couple of years ago. The weather might be our best hope.

Christ I know I said I didn't have much faith in our batsmen but I didn't expect it to be quite that bad![DOUBLEPOST=1385110960][/DOUBLEPOST]
England making Lyon look like Shane Warne, wake up you knackers.

Vastly under rated bowler IMO.[DOUBLEPOST=1385111130][/DOUBLEPOST]

Don't think so. As I was saying before, the Aussies have finally got some plans for our batsmen.

I went to bed just after KP got out, so our batting is still f***ing woeful then.

Don't actual see how it's going to improve in this series.

Useless twats. We saw all the warning signs in the summer - the Aussies exposed the weakness in our best batsmen and seems the coaching staff have done nothing about it. I don't give two shits if this is a home pitch for the Aussies, the lack of preparation is pathetic.

A long long series if they don't address such obvious f***ing weakenesses.

What the fuck has gooch been doing since september, as he hasn't been coaching them how to bat?

Exactly Marra, Aussies must be pissing themselves laughing as they will have the measure of Cook and Trott for the series now.

Said it before, this post 2012 vintage aren't good enough to beat a team who play good cricket. We aren't good enough to win without relying on the other team consistently being worse with bat and ball. If a good attack or batting line shows up the best we can manage is a draw.

Let's not have a PF esque meltdown eh lads? It was a terrible innings but let's get these out tomorrow and look to get in at the end of play. Maybe the deficiencies we've seen can be addressed.

The one, tiny chink of light for me is that we at least don't have to worry about scoring at any rate, which is when Cook and Trott are at their strongest. That said neither have been anywhere near the form they were in then since.

Bit Football esque this place at the mo

On this thread someone said the series was already looking like a boring one sided affair in our favour just because we have them 160 - 6. Now we are the worlds worst. This is test cricket lads, and there is a long series ahead.

However, I must point out that too many seemed to write off the Aussie attack. Ive always said Lyon is a good bowler (under rated by many - possibly even out batsmen?) and Johnson is more than capable of producing match changing spells of bowling. Last series should have been a warning because you could see that the Aussies had finally worked out plans for our batsmen.

The saving grace is it looks as though our attack will always give us a chance, so we basically need two or three batsmen to step up in each test and we have half a chance.

Of all the games we were going to lose it was going to be this one. Still fancy my 2-2 shout to be correct.

gutted that i finally crashed out at 75-2, if i'd waited another 30 minutes i would have got to see most of us getting out.. and its not like the extra kip has made me feel in anyway alive :(

Its all my fault.

Stayed up all of the first day and bedded down after we wrapped up the innings.[DOUBLEPOST=1385117151][/DOUBLEPOST]
If it was a case of picking players on merit, as opposed to jobs for the boys, we wouldn't be in this problem.

What ya on about?

I don't fancy Lyon as it goes, seems a bit one paced and no reason why we can't go after him. The way to get Johnson to fail is to get after him as well, won't be long hopefully.

As for today, it was unprofessional to let the last over before lunch happen at all nevermind Trott's poor dismissal. After lunch I reckon it was their minds and the collapse was horrible, but won't happen like that again.

Let's remember that Aussie were lucky to get to 290, a couple of catches a couple of inches either way and they would have been 150 all out as well. Still think England are the better side.
