He didn't say he wanted it, where have you made that up from? There was a suggestion he'd been offered a contract, and it was with him to come back. He then spoke to Lens and it appears the deal was dead

Still backs up my original point about chasing Still for months only to be palmed off.
So the search for an alternative has only been ongoing for weeks.

It was a club briefing which is why several people ran the same story. And with the way he is with the media if it was untrue about him accepting the job he would have denied it.
I do agree though they went after Still for far too long but I think it’s because they actually thought he would sign in the end. If Lens had not made the offer I’m sure he would have already been appointed here
