If someone had scripted yesterday's game it would have been thrown out as too unreal.
They would have thrown it out because it was too harsh on the Kiwis.
Just some of the things that happened yesterday that went wrong for them:
Nicholls was given out lbw incorrectly which was overturned by appeal.
Guptill was given out correctly but probably because of Nicholls decision they appealed and lost their review.
Taylor was given out incorrectly but they had no reviews left.
Roy looked absolutely plum first ball but the umpire who had incorrectly given Taylor out gave him not out and the review showed "Umpires call", by the smallest of margins.
Requiring 15 from the final over Stokes was caught on the boundary only for the fielder to stand on the boundary sponge. Next ball they ran 2 and as Stokes dived in to complete the second run the called diverted off the bat giving England an additional 4 runs.
The game tied the match went to a Super Over.
England scored 15
Jofra Archer, representing England for the 15th time was chosen to bowl the over for England.
New Zealand scored 15.
With the scores equal England won on boundaries scored.
Stokes who had bowled the final over in the T2o world final defending 19 runs unsuccessfully and who had been in Court defending an assault charge in the previous 18 months won man of the match (He was born in New Zealand)
That is just a fairy tale isn't it?

There wasn’t that much that went against them, if truth be told. They wasted the Guptill review no one else, and therefore invited the Taylor problem. And then Boult fucked up his chance to win the World Cup.

Without the deflection we needed 7 off 2 which wasn’t unachievable given Stokes’ hitting and actually had less chance of resulting in a draw than 3 off 2 does.

We also had things go against us, but let’s forget them as they don’t suit your anti-England agenda

Well that's one point of view, but I don't think they invited the umpire's mistake for the Taylor decision and since Stokes couldn't score 3 from 2 it's unlikely he would have sored 7 from 2.
What in this game went against England?
By the way I was rooting for England as much as anyone else.

Chasing 7 needs boundaries so the mentality changes from need a 2 and a 1. Basically 2 shots to hit a 6 isn’t unheard of in modern cricket.

Drag ons are bad luck, several lbw decisions not given for us, etc.

In the same way we invited the problem with Roy on Thursday they invited their problem with Taylor by wasting their review on something worthless.
