100 Greatest Britons

Bit contentious but could this list include people born as a British subject but rebelled. Could George Washington or Patrick Pearse make the list

Not many women in this list, around 10%. These lists are tough as they are naturally either very well known or just currently well known. A similar parallel would be a list of Sunderland players that would have Kevin Ball ahead of Charlie Buchan.

Our own Venerable Bede would be a potential omission from this list.

Not going to be too many women from history to match the achievements of men unfortunately just the way it was back then really. With things like science and engineering etc being almosr male exclusive.

There arent any people of colour on the list I believe again probably for similar reasons pointed out by @VINCENT VEGA while people of colour have lived in Britain for hundreds of years, they've had limited opportunities to hold positions of power.

I could imagine it would be a bit of a nightmare pulling together a list again today probably with attempts to make it more representative of modern Britain and claims of it being woke or counter claims of it being racist, mysoginistic or transphobic based on who is or isnt included. Reflects how much identity politics has developed in the last 20 years.

Thought Daley Thompson would've been on..an updated list would have Lewis Hamilton on.

It isn't all you need to know. To take from another contender in the poll you should see them warts and all. He was an absolutely horrific man and made some appalling decisions that caused many many deaths but he also was a brilliant war time PM. These aspects of his life are evidently not mutually exclusive and one does not detract from the other. He is not a super hero and nor is he a pantomime villain. He was a deeply troubled man who was responsible for making some massive decisions. Not all of them were made wisely or morally.

Well said
