It took us 4 years to get out of bloody league 1. We can't just pick and choose when we want to go up. So many teams are similar standard so if we get a whiff of a chance we've got to grab it by the balls

We didnt spend too much under Short, we spent too much on shite.
A new manager every season wanting his own players/ a new hair brained scheme from Short EG the Udinese model.
The problem was not how much we spent but what we spent it on.
The clubs in the best position its been in since Keanes first season.
Must admit, am tempted. Booked early last year and sat back while everyone scrambled round for trains and hotelsHow many times have I got to tell you all? Book your Hotel for the play off finals!
we spent way more than we could affordWe didnt spend too much under Short, we spent too much on shite.

got to gan for it, cans in covent garden mate, win or lose, flares and chanting in tourists faces, the playoffs'll be summat else imo
We’re as close to bottom of the league as we are top. Bit of perspective needed. We’re gonna win the league.
we spent way more than we could afford
Booked in Watford with a cancellation option. Talking to a lad in The Cooper Rose on Saturday who has done the sameMust admit, am tempted. Booked early last year and sat back while everyone scrambled round for trains and hotels
I love the optimism - only way to be imoBooked in Watford with a cancellation option. Talking to a lad in The Cooper Rose on Saturday who has done the same

Let's wait until the end of January I would say. Too many teams all around the same points at the moment. And best GD of those around us
It’s happening
Couldn't agree morewe are just great to watch, thats the most enjoyable thing, I'm not particular arsed about getting in the cut throat premier league myself like
Milwall probably finish higher come end of season but they awful to watch agree enjoying our style we currently playing.
5 games in December if we can get bit more bite in midfield with players coming back we could be in decent position turn of year
it’s exciting times another trip to Wembley would be brill
byrne was appointed by niall quinn i think? He also put footballing dunces like Byrne and Difanti in powerful positions who drained many more millions out of the club due to incompetence.
Safc were apparently the 7th biggest spenders in Britain over a 8 year period under Short. Scandalous that wasted money led to league 1 for 4 seasons.
obviously spending money on better players would have helped,,,but so would having a proper commercial operation..scouts that werent corrupt etc..I agree but on the other hand if we spent that money on good players we could have been top half rather than battling relegation.
More prize money, more tv money, more sponsorhip, more merchandise sales, more ticket revenue. More profit on player sales rather than buying someone for £8million and letting them leave on free's.
The problem was spending the money on the wrong players. Sacking managers every season then buying players for the new manager then sacking them and so on. Stupid schemes going out and buying 10 players for cheap who never got a sniff of first team footy, taking up wages then leaving on free's.
The thing with affordability is that if you spend well it will often be affordable in the long run whether it’s a dishwasher or a footballer. For example my Miele washing machine cost almost 1000 pounds but I’ve had it for about 17 years and it’s never gone wrong. In the ten years or so prior I had to buy three or four washing machines that totalled about 1400. The Miele was bloody expensive, more than I’d ever spent on a car never mind a washing machine but has proven ultimately to be very good value, cheap even.we spent way more than we could afford
Our?short appointed a director of football operations who had never worked in football a day in his life prior to joining, and hasnt worked in football since. So not surprising our scouting was terrible..in truth the club wildly over acheieved during that time given the incompetence of the people running it
all valid points..but buying the mroe expesnive..albeit better value one..requires one to have the cash in the first place..which safc never really did...The thing with affordability is that if you spend well it will often be affordable in the long run whether it’s a dishwasher or a footballer. my mother had a poss tub and a hand operated wringer for 25 years, never broke down and i think she got it given so cost nowt, then she bought a twin tub with an electric wringer attached for 25 quid which broke down after 15 years, see quality gets worse through the years, things are just not made to last anymore. The thing with affordability is that if you spend well it will often be affordable in the long run whether it’s a dishwasher or a footballer. Borrowing is fine if you get a return on it.all valid points..but buying the mroe expesnive..albeit better value one..requires one to have the cash in the first place..which safc never really did...
No money in things that last ages.my mother had a poss tub and a hand operated wringer for 25 years, never broke down and i think she got it given so cost nowt, then she bought a twin tub with an electric wringer attached for 25 quid which broke down after 15 years, see quality gets worse through the years, things are just not made to last anymore.
