“Shane” (Amazon Prime)

Someone is going to have to convince me to stick with this as two minutes in there have already been contributions from Chris Martin (who explained he is in a band called Coldplay) and Ed Sheeran.
I always suspected that Chris Martin was a wrong 'un.

And in fairness, how many of us could pick Ed Sheeran's flipper ?

I tend to think his achievements and life away from cricket, before and after his career, have been in the public domain so regularly, that it's perhaps one for his fans more than general cricket lovers.

Quite enjoyed it, totally forgotten that his marriage fell apart just before the 05 ashes . . and the ‘where’s your Mrs gone’ chants 😀

His summer in Bristol in ‘89 looked like good fun

If its anything like his autobiography then I'll probably shoot my TV screen instead.

Remarkable book that, got through half of it then give up, literally just attempting to settle scores.

Any mention of him taking money from indian bookmakers?

Watched it tonight. Was an ok watch. Had a canny career.

Still to this day can’t understand how he ended up slipping one up liz Hurley. Fair play to him for that at least

Greatest spin bowler in my lifetime.

The bit that made me chuckle was when they pointed out that he was the only one of the top five Wisden's cricketers of all time who wasn't a "Sir". Was this his pitch for a knighthood ?

He organized a charity 20/20 match a few years ago that I went to. It was retired England v retired Australia and was organized by him and Liz Hurley in aid of their charities. Warney seemed to be a pretty decent bloke as he spent a lot of time with the many youngsters at the match and each team had a guest player who had won their place via an auction. Each player bowled one over and Warney bowled to the auction winner in the England side allowing him to score a couple of boundaries off him before snaring him with the last ball of his over which I thought was very decent of him

I hope it's better than the first documentary they did about Shane. That was rubbish, spent the entire running time on his time battling cattle barons in Wyoming and didn't even mention his cricket career

to be fair to him I've seen plenty of pictures of him spending plenty of time with young players and showing them how to spin the ball and doing a bit of coaching etc. Also thought the bit in the documentary of him in his personal archive selecting pieces to auction for charity etc.

He auctioned his baggy green off for the bushfire fund - knowing how much the Australians bleat on about how special they are i thought that was a really top thing for him to do. Got $1million for it. He always came across as less of a wanker than some other Australians over the years.
