‘Swaying’ home

Was laughing at my mate when he said it was swaying , he told me to look down and I can confirm it was . I’m sure (hope) it was designed that way but if all those who are a bit scared can please go over the town bridge it will help me get to the pub quicker 🙏.

Just caught sight of this thread. I was walking over it after the Leeds game when it was packed and had the sensation of swaying. I thought I was having a dizzy spell actually.
This might explain it.

Not sure this even fits on our footy forum BUT did anyone else get the wobbles on the footbridge after the game? Got to say it was swaying A LOT. Thought it was just me at first then realised it was the actual bridge, and I was bang in the middle when it was at its worst. Ngl did frighten me a bit.
It's still safe, they tested it with giant blowers and blew it through 360 degrees. You just have hold on tight as its going overhead.

Went over after Leeds and didn't notice.
Are people noticing it sway side to side or up and down. Will be the frequency of the crowd getting close to or at the natural frequencies of the bridge.
Think there's a cracking example of the Celtic ground when they're doing the Poznan.

I heard like a cracking sound, then realised it was coming from the SOL.

Didn't soldiers have to break step when they crossed bridges? Apparently the effect of a lot of people tramp tramp tramping in unison across any bridge could bring it down.

Even sky scrapers sway in the wind and airplane wings flex and bend in flight. If they were rigid they would snap

Yes they do my Lord

All to do with the Broughton Suspension Bridge collapse

I never knew that there had been an actual incident in which marching troops has caused a bridge to collapse. I had supposed troops broke step because someone had noticed that bridges swayed dangerously when they marched across them.
