‘Glasgow Rangers’.

Chris McLaughlin from BBC Scotland nailing their predictable narrative to the mast of course, saying Celtic fans were on the pitch celebrating seeming completely justifying their reason to be on the pitch and describing Rangers fans as angrily confronting them of course, what an absolute rat that bloke is.

A lot of the coverage is now totally biased so I take anything I read with a pinch of salt.

What did happen though? From what I've seen it looks like Celtic fans were on the pitch celebrating and Rangers fans came on after to angrily confront them.

To be totally clear, I'm not justifying either, I'm asking what happened?

Reminds me of something a mate of mine told me a few years back: his Dad, in his seventies ,originally from Govan and a big Rangers fan, was sat watching the Rangers v Hibs match when there was a pitch invasion, and he heard his dad start shouting at the tv. My mate, who’d gone into the room, said “it’s disgraceful isn’t it?”

His dad replied “Aye, too f*cking right it’s disgraceful, we’re getting chinned by the f*cking Spoonburners”.. 😂

Just to put it out there, I’ve always leant towards Celtic because my nana supported them, actually went to games for a time when she lived in Glasgow.

While you’re right, the Celtic supporters were a catalyst, we’ve seen our supporters spill onto the pitch before. Granted, this appeared to be longer than we would celebrating a goal, if it was us against the Mags I think everybody would be buzzing (dropping from a great height ignored). Running the length of the pitch to confront supporters celebrating (& goading) take it to another level.

Again, you’re right, the police were shite.

Whilst I might try & defend the Celtic celebrations as being “over exuberant” that triggered a string of events, I think the stuff in the Celtic end, smashing the stands, the graffiti about the ibrox disaster etc is indefensible.

I can't condone the vandalism by Celtic fans particularly the Ibrox disaster stuff totally out of order.

That said some of the Rangers fans on here need to have a look at their own fans too and Doberman claiming how hard they are is embarrassing.

Re the friendly v Celtic at the SOL saw some appalling behavior by elements of the Celtic support but some of the SAFC fans were no angels that day.

Did anything actually happen apart from a lot of 'hold me back, hold me back?

Again, I need to make the point here I’m slightly Celtic bias, but I’m trying to look at this objectively.

Bit of a pitch invasion (at their rivals ground, which is a piss take). It was the end of the match, so they hung around in the box & by the goal longer than if it was a goal cos the match wasn’t restarting. There was no need to get off to allow players to return to the field to celebrate like say after the Coventry semi final or when you get presented a cup, so the motive was there to take the piss as much as possible.

So they hung around taking the piss, which would 100% wind up Rangers supporters & vice versa if the boot was on the other foot. I thinking if it was us vs Newcastle.

However, there’s a danger of taking the narrative to the next level. Apparently the Celtic supporters invaded the pitch to attack Rangers players. Given that they never ventured past the 18 yard box & the penalty shoot out was at the other end, it’s a difficult one to believe. Then the Union Bears have policed the situation to remove them, despite hundreds of police on the pitch (not that I’m saying they did a great job) which is almost being hailed as some kind of have a go hero moment, despite making the situation worse.

Nobody’s coming out of it well, but the hysteria has been taken up a canny notch.

I think for him to simply imply that Celtic fans were celebrating is disingenuous to be honest, we’ve all seen videos of them rushing the turnstiles, something they are known for and was a reason why allocations were reduced in the first place, opening fire exits at Motherwell so anybody could get in a season or so ago.

Wrecking away ends at Kilmarnock and Motherwell in the past completely glossed over as an old firm match issue.

Re these Jamie Bryson quotes first I've heard of Celtic fans attacking Rangers players though there has been coverage of Rangers fans attacking Celtic players and non playing staff?

Rangers and Celtic fans clash. In other news night follows day. It will never change. I remember a two Ronnie's sketch years ago where the jist of the joke was Rangers were playing Celtic and a football match broke out.
