‘Glasgow Rangers’.

He’s a patsy, will say what he needs too to get the gig

Clearly.
They now have a real problem. Their hard core fans want a top manager but the squad is so bad, no top manager will touch them with a barge pole.

Said it for years but the fans hold them back as they have ideas way above their station. They will hound out anyone who isn't a top drawer manager and no top drawer manager will take the job. I gaurantee that whoever gets appointed will not satisfy the 'people', because a high percentage of the 'people' are biggoted arseholes.

I find it quite funny to be honest.

Taking Walter Smith out of the equation, Alex McLeish is probably my favourite Rangers manager. Top manager indeed.

What did Walter and McLeish have in common? They knew how to win domestically.

Derek McInnes or Stephen Robinson for me now please.

They'd both see managing Rangers as the ultimate privilege (as did Gerrard) and they'd treat the culture and history behind the role without the upmost respect.

Top manager yada yada yada.

Played seven, won five, drawn two

"Terrible"
Performances and football has been poor. Results boosted by last minute or added time winners against Kilmarnock and Motherwell, 87th minute winner against St Mirren, 0-0 at home to Hibs. These are normally games won a lot easier. They've not bought well.

Danny Rohl could become a Rangers great if he's appointed and given time to sort the squad out. Unfortunately the abysmal failure of Russell Martin is clouding too many supporters' judgement.

Tbf to the fans a distant second in a 2 horse race to your hated rivals is unacceptable. Imagine that being us to Newcastle!
Certainly this season it's a two-horse race between Hearts & Celtic and I wouldn't bet against Hearts, Celtic are terrible atm.
Would love Hearts to do it. The Scottish title hasn't left Glasgow in 40 years.

As well as appointing Martin, and like their more successful neighbours, their recruitment this summer was abysmal.
The standard of Scottish football has been pretty average for years and this is probably the worst it's been. Terrible
It doesn't help that the financial gap is growing as Celtic got a record £124m revenue last year which is less than the lowest PL club gets. Though Celtic's wage bill isn't as high either and even some of the players are on less than some plodders in the Premier League. Rangers got £88m but it's a canny gap and a lot less than a PL teams, probably nearer relegated PL teams in the Championship.

Celtic and Rangers aside, most of the clubs are getting League One revenues when you compare them.

Looking a bit more, even though this list isn't complete, it looks like some are getting less than some teams in League Two. I didn't realise how fucked up it is in Scotland now as how can other clubs compete in that league with League One/Two budgets to Celtic and Rangers?

Based on what ?
Will Rangers pay the compensation for him?

How much did Martin actually spend this season?

Circa £20m

3.5m on Fernandes, 4m on Aasgard, 9m on Chermiti, 4m on Antman

It’s not a 2 horse race anymore. Celtic have pulled so far clear of Rangers.

Actually, it is a 2 horse race. Just Rangers aren’t one of them.
Rangers are always at the start of the race though, hearts may make it a 3 horse race but in a league where the earn so much more money than anyone else (bar Celtic) they have to always be considered. They just need a sensible manager and philosophy which seem to go against what a lot of the fans want.

Good appointment here and if they give the new manager power they could win the league next year with little spending (in English football terms), bad appointment and they kick the can down the road again like the last 5 years.

9m on Chermiti. Jesus that's a risk. I know he's only 21 but he's barely scored a goal in his career.

3 goals in the Portuguese 3rd division
3 goals in the Portuguese top flight
1 goal for Everton U23s in the EFL trophy nonsense

That's it, in about 65 appearances.
