They now have a real problem. Their hard core fans want a top manager but the squad is so bad, no top manager will touch them with a barge pole.

Said it for years but the fans hold them back as they have ideas way above their station. They will hound out anyone who isn't a top drawer manager and no top drawer manager will take the job. I gaurantee that whoever gets appointed will not satisfy the 'people', because a high percentage of the 'people' are biggoted arseholes.

I find it quite funny to be honest.

Farcical this.. Gerrard took a look said no... Mourinho is new head coach at Benfica few weeks back anyways...

Rangers should try take Lampard from Coventry... But he his sights set on prem... Their think their big but their not. Tbh the talent pool their can from is small...Hearts are doing well... Try take their manager, No idea who he is... But would he want to downgrade.... From current position.....

Derek McInnes and he turned them down once before (and Sunderland If I recall correctly, when he was at Aberdeen). He is an ex Rangers player and will no doubt be their manager at some point but the timing is terrible as Hearts are top of the league.
 
No head coach is going to solve the problem at rangers mind. They’ve been completely left behind, dinosaurs in positions of power. Their recruitment is absolutely awful.

Even the year Gerrard won the league, Celtic were a basket case with Lennon in charge.

considering Tony Bloom has gotinvolved with Hearts not the not could it be a disaster with McKinney at Rangers (he’s not big enough to be given time) Hearts might get somebody even better who makes the 2 horse race a genuine 3 horse race. Brighton always have a few names lined up incase somebody goes after their manager so I can imagine Hearts now have the same approach.

It’s not a 2 horse race anymore. Celtic have pulled so far clear of Rangers.

Actually, it is a 2 horse race. Just Rangers aren’t one of them.

They had a chance in the summer to get a manager who was either on the up or a steady competetive hand.
They went for a manager who is Im sure a canny bloke but completely shit at his job, his 1 promotion with Southampton came with a squad too good for the league it was in and he nearly fucked that. He was obviously out of his depth at a smaller English club in terms of the top flight. Can’t believe rangers thought he was the man to move them up towards Celtic and beyond.

I’ve always preferred Rangers to Celtic in Scottish football but the last few years have been shambolic and this season is gone already- what manager is going to want to have 35 games at the helm and then be pumped early next season when it’s no better after 1-2 months?

I dont know who was in charge when they were back in the SPL but I was listening to 5 live and Ally McCoist was saying Rangers fans needed to concentrate on their own (newly formed ;) ) club and not what Celtic are doing.

It's true that supporters often fixate on what rivals are doing instead of their own business.

Celtic are terrible this year mind,Rangers could in theory make a decent appointment (give the manager this season as a free hit) and think about the long term.
 
if reports are to be believed then it sounds like Danny Rohl is nailed onto get the job. Their fans already highly against it. He’ll be onto a hiding to nothing if he does. The same as Martin.
