2013 Ashes Tickets On Sale

Ridiculous pricing from the ECB again. I got tickets for the Brisbane test when Harmy bowled that wide for £18 each. Shocking.

I guess if they think they can sell it out. Their logic will be

Australia has significantly bigger grounds
Australia has a significantly lower population
The Ashes is a huge deal

They will sell out.

Its shit like, but then again I entered the Olympics ballot today, f***ing ridiculous

Durham members get first choice before the ECB, ticket agencies, overseas applicants etc etc, I think it'll sell out no problem and even the Durham members aren't guaranteed every day they apply for as they make sure everyone gets at least one day. Compare it to the cost of watching football (per hour) and it's fairly reasonable. Also, if you commit to buy and can't make the date there's an exchange policy in place but it isn't fully explained how it works.

I'll probably buy a ticket but I resent paying £70 for one.

£350 to see the whole 5 days, thats madness.

And I ask again, why should Durham members get preference?

A bit like when Wembley was closed, should Man Utd have got first dibs for England games played at Old Trafford?

I suppose it's to try and give.....cringeworthy phrase coming up....'genuine cricket fans' some reward for their loyalty.

It's only fair that those who back Durham get their chance to see the biggest game ever held on the ground. There will still be plenty of tickets to go around for the England fans.

Thats all well and good, but is an Essex fan less of a fan than a Durham fan? And Chelmsford is never gonna stage an Ashes test now is it...

Now would it be wrong of me to point out that there are usually two Ashes tests in London, I appreciate not Essex ?

Drivel.

By that logic, we should all get UEFA cup final tickets were the final to come to the SOL

Totally different that, as it's clubs. A better comparison would be, did season ticket holders get and preference for the England games at the SoL?

How is it different?

"Durham members get preference for the biggest game held on their ground" (I paraphrase)

And I would very much doubt it.

Because Durham fans will likely be England fans. Sunderland fans would not be fans of whoever is playing in the Europa final.

Any county member from any club can get a priority booking form for tests on any ground as I do every year for the Lords test.

I have been to Durham many times but never bought online as I normally just pay in at the door.

Think I may have to buy a ticket soon to get on the register.

There was definitely a season ticket only window for the Belgium game, as I sat in my s/t seat for that one, not sure if there was a similar window for the Turkey game where you could buy but not get guaranteed your own seat or whether it was a free for all.

As for the debate, I agree that DCCC members should be 'rewarded' for their loyalty by getting first dibs. Besides it's not a new thing as we get a priority window every year, it's just a bit more high profile with it being the Ashes and having a good chance of not going to general sale.

It's also not unique pretty much every Test ground does it. I try to go to as many internationals as I can and so am on the mailing list of all the grounds and there is always various windows for differing customers (i.e. members, previous customers, England fan members, general sale etc).

I'd love to go and watch an ashes test at durham but for 75 quid they can fuck right off. Yet another example of ripping off fans

Are the tickets the same price across the series??

Expensive but much better value than football.

11am-6pm not just 90minutes.
