Disappointing, but a result pitch would be better than a bore draw pitch

I just get the feeling our middle order may have gone too cheaply

Just got in, sunburnt:evil:. Anyway highlights of the batting for me was Smith and Muchalls partnership, the pair of them seem to be playing with a little more confidence. Borthwicks knock was tidy enough when it seemed like Monty and Khan were going to plough through the tail end.

Claydon and Thorp started the bowling well enough,i think i counted 2 maidens apiece for them with a great wicket for Claydon as well helped with a brilliant catch from Muchall.

I think it was criminal how easy our middle order surrendered against what is a very average bowling attack. Just hope the boys can get into them this morning. Hopefully 2 or 3 wickets before Lunch and make life difficult for Sussex. If we can get a lead and be batting again later today we'll be laughing. If not I think we may be struggling. I don't think the pitch will offer a great deal for the bowlers. Monty bowled a lot of overs imo due to their other bowlers not performing not because the pitch was turning. I still feel we should have made 400 after the start we got off to. Even at 200-3 we looked good for it.

That's the worry. Were they bowling Panesar as a last roll of the dice as we were looking comfortable to get 400+. Our batting order played some very loose shots at best. At least one early wicket this morning is a must if we want to kick on. Alternatively there could be something in the wicket for the spinners which would be a bonus. We'll know a lot more about how the match is going to pan out by lunch today.
