Exactly !!

It's the poor sods in the County League who have to put up with Marsden and their precious star players that I feel sorry for.

Prediction - Coming soon, more Marsden CC threads about what a pain in the arse Chris Mann and John Leslie are !

The NE Premier League is the top league up here, it's been going for about 12/13 years.

The winners of the Durham Senior League can be promoted into it, if they meet certain criteria ... and wish to apply for promotion. They replace the team who finished bottom.

Below that you have the Durham County League and Durham Coast League who are considered to be on an equal standing. The winners of those leagues can apply to join the Durham Senior League, taking the place of the bottom club.

Last year both league champions, Kimblesworth and Boldon CA, applied to go up and after winning a play off and passing a ground inspection, Kimblesworth replaced Marsden in the DSL.

Then it all kicked off because geographically Marsden are closer to the Coast League, but the play off winners came from the County League and that is were Marsden will be in 2011.

It's not so much a pyramid as a group of leagues that can feed in to one another, but this may change following the fall out from what I've just described.

It looks like the Durham Senior League (in their wisdom) want to form a second division to prevent this kind of thing happening again, but in doing so will draw on clubs from what they consider to be lower leagues and that will ruin what's left of them.

Hope this helps
Whats the craic with Kimblesworth. somewhere I lost this story about the ground being closed but it appears to be "re opened". Was it ever closed and what was the story.

Its just along the road from me and its a cracking little ground, I'm assuming still owned by the Nicholson's?

I've never played there but I hear it's ridiculously small?

Kimmer is a shithole, if they ever have to make a 30-yard circle they'll have the discs on the boundary - no exaggeration, it is that small.

What's the facilities like at Marsden btw? Sorry if already mentioned but can't be chewed trawling 7 pages! Any pictures online? AND more importantly, what's the Teas like?!

So Seaham Harbour get relegated and don't make any fuss. Their junior section are forced to play in the coast league even though the young uns didn't get relegated and competed well at all age levels in the senior league.

The following year, Marsden are relegated and because they kick up, their junior section get to stay in the senior league.
